I can see it now--a Dev spent the day developing, thinking up, making new CA's for the Bruiser while this game was in development. At lunch time they had their sack lunch with them, so they just decided to stay at their desk and have fun.

They quickly came up with a fun idea-a bruiser can use a CA that would make their skin as hard as a rock, but they would be stunned in the process. The Dev has images of frozen bruisers surrounded by enemies who spent the whole time the bruiser is stunned chipping away at their skin and exposing holes to insert all manner of hurty things.

Lunch time ends and before the Dev can erase his/her doodling they get called to an important meeting. Somehow that lunch time doodling and messing around never got deleted and found its way into the actual Bruiser CA list.

Is this close to home or has anyone actually ever used this CA?

Yes I actually used it on a raid. It has been a while back but when the mt died I grabbed the mobs aggro and held it for as long as I could. Once my health was deminishing at a fast rate I popped divide and conquer and then rock skin. Needless to say I lost aggro in less than three second and the mob turned and the frontal ae took out 1/3 of the raid.

By the time I canceled rock skin and got aggro back to many peeps where dead or were in dire need of cures/heals and the encounter was a failure.

I have experimented with the ability in instance runs and I personally find it a worthless abililty to ever use. I do not use it any more. This ability has no benefit to my group or when I am soloing.

I also used it, once, because I pressed the wrong button Not anymore, I removed it from hotbar

at least now it's a great ability for monks since the AA removes the stun.

they should make rock skin a temp buff that only increases mitig with no stun (maybe a root) and change our other temp mit buff to something else. a perma solo buff, a group buff, temp or perma

I never used it and it's the only spell (with fear and mezz) that I didn't upgrade to ad3. And I sometimes use the fear and mezz ^^

I use Fear and Mez a lot as I pretty much just solo. Anytime I fight multiple mobs and its a tough fight I'll send one to lala land until I finish with the first mob.

Or with heroics I'll use them to buy time for my damage Ca's to refresh.

But Rock Skin isn't on my hot bar.

I have used it but so rarely that I wouldn't even consider it a useful ability. When I am tanking I will use it temporily just to allow time for the healers to catch up if I am below 30% health, but turn it off immediately as soon as I am back at 100%. Whether it truely helps during this or it makes me feel like I am doing something is another story

Does it need to be altered in some way... yes. Will it ever get touched.. nope.

I would suggest removing this ability from your hotbars. When I've had it on mine, I've occasionally hit it by mistake and wondered why I couldn't move or do anything.. and even Close Mind wouldn't pull me out of it. I remember screaming in Ventrilo "Guys guys! I'm stuck!" then I realized I hit that terrible terrible ability. That was the last day it was used.

There is no practical use for Rock Skin in today's game. It's idea was that you could hit it and give healers a chance to catch up... and you could hit your single target taunt if you needed to while stunned. This is not the case today, as DPS is so high, if you stop for more than 2 seconds, you are going to loose aggro and your tiny, insignificant taunt won't matter.

The only use I've found for it is when you're going to be hit by an unavoidable physical aoe. Like Kultak for example. You're already out, so only dps you're losing is your thrown damage anyways.

I would occasionally use it soloing while I was leveling up and my feign death success chance wasn't all that great. If I decided I needed to feign because I was getting pounded on too much, if feign death then failed and if I couldn't run, I'd pop that and hope to weather the storm until feign recycled.

That was awhile ago. I haven't used it in months.

The only time I have used it was when I was Res'd in a raid and the mob was still AoEing, gave me time to heal up from the res. But that was one time, The stun makes it totaly worthless IMO
