When I started eq II after not playing for a few days it started doing a download. Then it came up with download cancelled, clicked download but straight away went to download cancelled, I checked permissions in the folder to ensure write permissions were there and they were. To fix the issue I had to move the file it was getting stuck on to another directory then it would continue the download but doing this for multiple files was a little annoying. eventually I got the play button (after about an hour of fiddling with the [Removed for Content] thing). I logged into the game and all seemed to work fine for the first 15 minutes then I got a voice chat could not connect error and a black screen started to continually pop up in front of the eq2 window it seemed to be a command line for voice chat. Turning voice chat off stopped this screen appearing but it means that I have no voice chat functionality.

I run windows vista, I run the game as administrator, I run it in compatibility mode for Windows XP SP2.

------------------System Information------------------Time of this report: 7/12/2009, 19:16:10

Operating System: Windows Vista™ Home Premium (6.0, Build 6001) Service Pack 1 (6001.vistasp1_gdr.090302-1506) Language: English (Regional Setting: English)System Manufacturer: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. System Model: EP43-DS3L BIOS: Award Modular BIOS v6.00PG Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q9550 @ 2.83GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.8GHz Memory: 3326MB RAM Page File: 2731MB used, 4136MB available Windows Dir: C:Windows DirectX Version: DirectX 10DX Setup Parameters: Not found DxDiag Version: 6.00.6001.18000 32bit Unicode

Greetings,

This sounds like a file permissions error. For some reason your system is not allowing the game to modify the files in the Everquest 2 directory. I notice you said that you're running as an administrator, but how are you doing so? If you aren't already, make sure you start the game by right clicking the shortcut and selecting 'run as administrator'. Simply setting it in the properties wont always be sufficient.

That said, the next most likely culprit would be an Antivirus. Are you using an antivirus on that computer? If so, which?

Sorry that's not it I always "right click and run as administrator", so it can't be related to that or how its operating. As I said all the correct permissions are in place and its being run as administrator.

I use nortons antivirus and the permissions have been set up for the game and to allow it access to write files and the like, I even disabled nortons, restarted the pc to run it fresh without nortons running and the problem still persisted.

Cheers

Voice chat is certainly having issues at the moment but that message should not be popping up. Most of the voice chat issues are caused by an update that has made voice chat incompatible with many routers. If you are using a router, have you tried bypassing it so that you're plugged directly into the modem? Give that a try if possible and let me know if it corrects the issue.
