Just yesterday I was in the Over Realm, Tenebrous Tangle to be exact, and I jumped down from the top of the falls to the froglok camp below to turn in some quests trusting in my Hover ability to get me down safe.

I was not in combat, I was not taking damage from a DoT and I was not on a mount.

So imagine my suprise when I shoot to the ground like a rocket, making the trip in less time that people playing races that do not have a natural ability to slow their fall.

When I hit the bottom I died ofcourse and a quick check of my combat log told me by how much.

I had just set a possable record.

1,758,600 falling damage

No, I am not making that number up, that is exactly what the combat log showed.

My previous personal record was over 300,000 damage when i jumped down from the housing level in Gorowyn and had the same thing happen, hover speeding my fall up, rather than slowing it down.

Heck, I have taken damage from falls that were less than my charecters height.

Dose anyone know what is going on? Is it a bug for all Dark elves? Every race that has to activate a slow fall racial ability? Every race that has a hover ability of any kind? Or is this some twisted bug that I am experiancing on my own?

I have never had Hover fail on me.

Yes and yes

However that brings up another interesting point. I have had Hover cancel its self after zoining or logging back into the game from time to time. Despite the hover ability saying it lasts untill canceled.

I just posted this same exact issue a week ago, there is something wrong.

http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=454409

I also have hover "deactivate" and also the erudite and high elf versions self cancel as well - hasn't killed me yet, but only because I now check before major falls. I haven't picked up why, but it does happen. ps - this is not due to aa point rebuilds - that turns off all your buffs - this is selective.

Yeah, on my DE Dirge, I've noticed that Hover will just randomly cancel out of the blue for no reason. Sometimes it does it between zones (i.e. Hover is on in one zone, then I zone to a new zone, and it cancels) or it sometimes will just cancel in the middle of an instance, or in the middle of an overland zone for no reason. No other buffs cancel or deactivate like this, but it certainly can be quite annoying.

Were you on a mount? I've never run across a hover issue on my speedy dirge.

Sometimes if randomly cancels on me also. Last memorable one was jumping down the hole on the way to the Lavastorm x2.

I have /petitioned it and they pointed me to the forums. I too was not on a mount, I thought maybe I forgot to turn it on after being killed(pvp) but after watching for it, I do beleive it is when I zone and it is totally random.

It is rather funny when you drop lock a rock when you are expecting to float. :0)

I have /petitioned them again and pointed them to this thread. Luckily it is not often.

If I log on with both hover and my mount on and I click on my mount key to dismount, it'll also turn off hover. This only seems to happen the first time I dismount after first logging in.

I wouyld suggest using /bug when you encounter the problem. If it is happening a lot, that will put it in the triage queue where it will be reviewed.

They key is, though, that it can't be fixed unless they can reproduce the behavior, so if folks can figure out reliably how to cause the problem you stand a better chance of getting it fixed. Otherwise, when the /bug is triaged, the tester just marks it "Works For Me".

This has happened to me many times over the last few months. I don't remember it ever happening before that unless I forgot to rebuff after dying. I haven't noticed the situation(s) that cancel the ability, only that hover is no longer active but all my other buffs are fine.

While I don't want to imply that people WERE mounted, because of the all the explicit statements that they weren't ... my DE SK has quit riding his "fun spell" horsie, for precisely this reason. Hover >>>>>>> 10% run speed buff.

Whatever the issue is, I hope they get it fixed "soon", so you can all go back to enjoying the goodness of permanent safe fall!

This isn't a new thing it has happened to me more times than I can count. I have /bugged it repeatedly to no avail. It seems to only happen upon zoning/loggin in. It will debuff which has caused me a few deaths as I will cast it run to a zone and jump to find out.. oops it debuffed again on zoning ... splat.

I never use a mount I have TS earring just so I don't have to be mounted (god I hate mounts on my screen lol). I haven't notice it happen once I was in a zone.. only after zoning (same with my Euridite)

I have noticed that some mounts stay on you like when you zone into an instance. This caused the hover on my coercer to fail because I forget to cancel the mount buff.
