Been playing around with my new troubie and have come to a roadblock. Read some of the messages here about soloing, but still have some questions.

First of all, I can't seem to solo anything harder than a blue ^ mob without resorting to kiting or mezzing. There has to be an easier way to solo the harder mobs as a troub. So my first question is, what is the hardest type mob we can solo? If I come across a blue ^^^ named heroic, is it worth giving it a shot? Right now, I only try green ^^^ heroics.

Secondly, what are some good hard-mob soloing techniques? Right now, kiting seems to be my only option, but our snare really sucks, so I'm mezzing mostly. Also, it takes a very long time to kill the hard stuff. There has to be a better way. Please share your soloing strats.

Any help will be appreciated!

Solo on a troub does take awhile. If you are use to things dying quickly I'm afraid you are going to be disappointed. Soloing first depends on how you want to play. If you are someone that likes to run in and go face to face with the mob then you aren't going to be soloing anything in the least bit difficult because unless you really have great gear you are going to get owned. Now if you are someone that plays like a "scout" with all the jumping, cheap shotting, positioning, etc. Then you will be able to kill more stuff at higher degree of difficultly. The problem here is that you don't have the dps to really down harder mobs before you have to wait for abilities to recycle so you end up face to face with it again and once again may get owned. Now the third way is one that you have actually described in pretty good deal here and in another thread (charm/mez/root). We have several songs that can be cast on the run and if you have a good bow you can really solo quite a few harder things assuming that they don't root/slow you and you have enough room to more around without getting an add. I believe that this is how they meant for you to solo, but you are right it takes a long time which is one of my biggest complaints about this class.

Gear makes a huge difference. If you are in nice TSO fabled then you may very well be able to go face to face and live even on orange con 1 ups and be just fine, but if your gear is handcrafted, treasured, or junk legendary then you are going to have a much harder/slower time of it.

You specifically asked about heroics. Now SOE would say that you aren't suppose to really be able to solo any of them, but we all know people do and do it quite well. If you want to solo heroics I would go with the charm/mez/root way. We are sort a jack of all trades and don't have the greatest crowd control but it works. Personally I may try at green ^^^s but I wouldn't try blue ^^^s. If I really needed that mob I would log in my pocket templar and duo it.
