Hello all,

I play on the Bazaar server and recently acquired a level 80 Bruiser for an unbelievably low price. I really wasn't intending to buy a bruiser, but the price was so low, I gave it a shot and was pleasantly surprised when the auction ended and the toon was sent to my holding area.

Now that I have this shiny new (to me) toon in my character select screen, I've been reading up on the Bruiser class to get some pointers. Unfortunately, not all my questions have been answered, so I will pose them below:

Many posts state that Bruisers are awesome soloers, so my first question is; what is the hardest green or better mob that bruisers can solo? For reference, I have an 80 illusionist that can solo yellow ^^^ named heroics as long as they are not immune to stun/mez/root. Unfortunately, the illy cannot solo an epic unless it is under level 40. I also have an SK that has soloed a green Epic x2, but tops out at soloing some named blue ^^^ heroics. Where does the bruiser fit in the soloing hierachy? Can I take him down to Karnor's, EoF insances, or Shard of Fear and solo farm?

Secondly, my new bruiser has some TSO legendary armor, but no fabled pieces. He also has no part of his Epic. What can I offer groups so that I can get a spot on shard runs? Most posts suggest that I should not even consider trying to tank these zones. Looking at the dearth of agro CA's (compared to my Guardian), it looks like bruisers don't have many ways to maintain agro. Also, what can I offer to a raid so that I can get a spot? I don't want to wait for off-night raids to get a pitty spot on group 4.

Lastly, I want to play a toon that can solo farm, instance group, and occasionally raid. If need be, I can betray to Monk, if that would better suit my needs. I'd like to make this decision before starting on his Epic so time is not wasted. Can Monks solo farm better than Bruisers? That answer is 80% of the reason to stay or betray. What do you all think?

First question, bruisers have no problem soloing nameds in Karnors Castle. If you get really geared out you'll be able to do even better. My bruiser on bazaar (who is up for sale right now btw) was able to solo quite alot of tough mobs and zones, inclusing Shard of Fear, Crypt of Agony, and some white epicx4s.

Tanking shouldn't be hard for your new bruiser, but if you don't have much experience doing it, I suggest you start out simply filling a dps role and study your tanks to see how they pull, how they position, and how they lead their group through each zone. Typically your only going to offer dps, or tanking to the group. Our one raid buff is nice, but doesn't make people seek us out. Additionally you can cast Shrug off on the tank and help avoid hits for him.

Bruiser is the better soloer. for a few reasons. Close Mind - Dude this spell is amazing and you will grow to LOVE it. Get yoru epic and Get your Mythical weapon. The clicky is a MUST have, aas it's a big heal and a dodge-based tsunami. Also when you get 182 AA +, you can get a second tsunami-like ability. We have so much burst DPS that it enables us to kill nameds mobs VERY fast. Spec down teh STR line and pick up CHI, and combine that with Knockout Combination, and you will watch the mob's hp MELT. Toss in the tsunami abilities we can get, and you'll love soloing with your bruiser.

Remember that Crabbok has very good gear and, unlike Ye Goode Olde Dayes, when you could solo white ^^^ names with nothing more than a bit of skill and the odd piece of legendary gear, Bruisers now NEED very good gear to solo anything tough.

Trying to solo nameds without a good amount of fabled/masters/AAs will be a...challenge. To say the least.

Bruisers are very gear dependent if they are looking to kill heroics. I doubt the bruiser you just bought could solo very well at all. Bruisers should really leave the named killing to the mages and SKs. What bruisers do best is FD flop their way to harvesting shinnies deep inside dungeons.

Fabled weapons (though no Epic), and legendary jewelery. His AA count is 133. Combat arts are all Expert.

I took him to KC, and was able to move around at will. Killed trash green ^^^ heroics, but it was a little dicey.

When I tried to kill a named, umm... how do I put this kindly..., it did not go very well. Got the named down to about 60%, having used up my heal, with all temp buffs used, and had to FD with my health and power below 20%. This was in defensive stance.

I tried to time my stuns and stone skins to maximize health, but when they were both down, the named spanked me pretty hard.

I realize I'm new to the class, so there may be something I missed. If anyone has a good general strat to use while soloing named mobs, please let me know. Also, if I'm missing certain types of equipment or AA lines, also let me know. As it stands, looks like I need to double my damage and defense before I can kill green named in KC.

Focus on getting aa's, that'll add a lot of survivability and dps once you have another 50 or so.

If you're in defensive, you don't hit enough the mob. Especially if you don't have many +crush gear.

And the AAs are very important (the tso tree, bruiser line). 133 AAS lvl 80 is not much.

it gives you a stonekin, though you can't rely on it, increase your mit and you can get a tsunamy.

the myth will also change your life. DPS and mostly survivability. I saw the difference when I started tanking after getting the mythical, amazing.
