I'm pretty sure I'll be rolling a Pally within the next month as part of a full alt group. I would like to ask the Paladin community about a "dream team" set-up. What other five classes would you roll to compliment the Palidin and make a powerful well balanced group? Powerful enough to require little to no crowd control on group encounters and well balanced enough that most if not all named encounters with tricky scripts can be beaten.

I've always liked Illy, dirge, swashy, defiler and warden. Thats what my friends play that I group with. Its pretty effective. But really the main thing I think that makes a sexy group for a paladin is the Illusionist and Dirge. I've done some zones with 2 illusionists, a dirge, a troub, and any good healer (sometimes inq sometimes a warden, mystic or defiler is good too, not saying templars or furies are bad or anything I just usually don't group with them except in raids). Dps can be phenomenal heh. Really doesn't matter a whole lot as long as there's a bard and an enchanter tho. Thats key.

In my opinion, a good group makeup for a Paladin would be Defiler, Dirge or Troubador, Coercer, Illusionist, Assassin or Swashbuckler. That group there would be able to take you right on up through to farming Palace of Ferzhul (arguably the most difficult heroic instance in the game). Two healers are really unnecessary for any single group content out there unless either the healer or the tank (you) are underperforming.

Also if the twin Illys had any of their buffs stack.

Appreciate the input from you and Kordran. I was hoping the entire group could start in the same town, but it looks as though due to the mix of good/bad classes we'll probably end up with, some will have to start some in an evil aligned city.

I believe they did stack, hard to tell with all the buffs heh. 2 TC's, 2 IA's, Battlecry, upbeat tempo, not to mention the procs from chime of blades and maestro, felt like everytime i even sneezed i proc'd dmg. And kordran is right about the healers, they are my friends tho so I usually take them heh.

Although technically an evil starting area, TD is really more "evil lite" where the guards, quest NPCs and so forth are neutral to good-aligned characters. That will take you up to level 20 or so, and from there on out you can start doing the quest lines in Butcherblock, as well as hit Stormhold, Fallen Gate, etc. If you're doing everything as a group, you're just going to plow through the lower level content, so you won't be in any one particular area for very long.

TD is good for questing. Its one of those places, nice to visit but wouldn't want to live there heh. I personally hate the city of Gorowyn itself. The quests are good, after finishing them you can go to all the usual lvl'ing zones.
