View Full Version : Reverence Heals - Why aren't they logged?

I finally got my Templar up to level 73 and started really paying attention to all the spells she has and how well each one of them worked. All was going good until I came across Reverence (Level 52, a certain percentage of mana spent is added to health). I looked around through the logs and couldn't find it listed anywhere. I did an encounter and cast nothing but Reverence and saw the health go up but no indications of where it came from in the logs.

Is there any reason why the heals from Reverence don't show up in the logs?

I may be oversimplifying a bit here but I'm a programmer myself. It seems to me that somewhere in the game code, it was determined that the spell Reverence, cast by TemplarZ, was running when CharacterY cast something that used mana. Because of this X amount of health was added to CharacterY. If this calculation is already being done (it's obvious that the health is is going up and that the spell is working), wouldn't it be as simple as adding another line of code that writes a line to the combat log that says:

TemplarZ's Reverence healed CharacterY for X health.

Is it more complicated than that and I just don't understand why? I found a post from 3 1/2 years ago describing this exact thing and apparently, it still doesn't log the info for this spell. Is this a bug that just got forgotten or is so far down on the list of things to fix that it's still on the list 3 1/2 years later? Seems like it would take all of 10 minutes to fix, if that, but again, I may be oversimplifying. It wouldn't change anything about how the game functions, it would just add additional info to the logs so you could see how effective, or not, the spell actually is.

I wanted to see how it compared to some of the other spells I'm casting to see which one was doing more good but it's impossible to tell since nothing about it gets logged.

(Note: If at all possible, please don't hijack this thread by posting other things that also don't function properly, don't get logged, etc. If you want to post about other things, please do so in another thread so this one can stay on topic. )

Thanks

Using ACT?

Edit: Seems you're just looking at the straight logs, and I havn't done that for any heals yet.

Don't see it anywhere other than the health bar moving up.

Reverence heals have never been logged, so there is nothing for a parser like ACT to see.

As to why? /shrug. Cures aren't logged either. Speaking as a programmer, it might be because the data is in player Y's client/session, and its extra effort to get it credited to player X that nobody thinks important enough to bother with. Crusader ward/reactive are weird that way too. (Paladin one is credited to paladin, SK to the char its on).

Reverence's usefulness however should not be in question - by itself its more than enough to keep even the most voraciously casting choker wearing enchanter at full health (macroed with a char name this works well).

How well it heals the Tank / MT - imposssible to tell really, there are so many other procs going off and other heals landing its anyone's guess.

If it was logged then other classes could see it btw, and the nerf calls would start ....

I have asked this question as well. I was actually checking to see how useful it was to keep a caster alive with a choker on and this spell, and could not tell if some of my other procs were healing him or if it was Reverence... Would be nice to know how well it actually worked to allow us to better utilize it.

Please make the results of this spell loggable.

Not even casting this spell since the outcome is so unquantifiable. Let alone the awful 15s recast or so.

Please make Reverence appear in the logs. Kkthx.

Figured I might as well post an update to this thread:

Reverence heals are now showing up on ACT. Try to keep casting this spell on someone not in your group who is wearing a choker in a raid, and your heal parse will look great
