View Full Version : Equipping for Solo Vs. MT.

<p>I've seen a number of Guardians talking about their stats and what equipment they use.  I starting to think that it may be in my best interest to look into 2 primary sets of equipment (with some overlapping).</p><p>Set #1 would be used for normal groups and solo.  Focus mainly on DPS. </p><p>Set #2 would be used for Tanking in Raids and should focus on survivability and hate generation.</p><p>I'm looking for these different sets to help optimize my character for the roles that they play with each set.</p><p>Set #1</p><ul><li>Focus on STR and AGI stats.  STR for DPS and AGI for added avoidance.</li><li>Willing to sacrafice MIT on armor for stats and bonus abilities.</li><li>Wield a two-handed weapon or possibly dual wield for maximum DPS.</li><li>Offensive stance.</li><li>DPS generating items a bonus.</li></ul><p>Set #2</p><ul><li>Focus on STA and AGI.  Any items with WIS on them will be a bonus.  STA for health and AGI for added avoidance.  WIS increases resists which it's always good to have as high as possible, IMO.</li><li>Maximize MIT on armor for maximum survivability.</li><li>Wield one-handed weapon and carry a shield.</li><li>Defensive stance on named mobs, Offensive on some trash mobs.</li><li>Hate generating items a bonus.  (DPS generating items may be as good as hate ones). </li></ul><p>I know that some changes are coming for us.  I'm just wanting to optimize myself to be able to solo to 80 and when needed, be able to MT a raid.</p><p>Am I totally off here?  Suggestions?</p>

Suggestions?</p></blockquote><p>I started down a similar path but pretty much I ended up with a heavy DPS oriented gear-set/spec that I use just about all the time.  Went for Melee Crit->DA->DPS->+CA  over anything else.  STR & DPS oriented adornments where possible.</p><p>I carry around a few "defense" oriented pieces to swap in for those rare cases where the raid needs me to be as "tanky" as possible.</p><p>But for soloing, grouping and most raids its DPS gear, O-Stance and Duel Wield.</p>

<p>DPS == Hate Generation</p><p>You don't really need 2 sets of gear, but I find I'll swap in gear that deters survivability and adds dps like:</p><p>Bloodthirsty ChokerLeviathon GirdleJewel of Animosity</p><p>I won't use those items fighting tough encounters, but I'll tank with them for most content.</p><p>Beyond that, I do have a few jewelry pieces that I might swap +slash for +mit or +def/parry, though thats pretty rare these days.</p>
