Hello,

This has been tremendously frustrating. My old dsl modem/router combo failed (eq2 was working fine on it), so I bought a new one (netgear DG834G).

However, now whenever I try to play the game I get spell lag, npc movement lag, chat lag (all like a 3sec delay) making the game unplayable.

It plays the same on 2 different computers, and regardless of whether I am using wired or wireless. (Therefore it is not a computer problem, and has to be a router settings issue).

I downloaded and installed the most recent router firmware, but it has had no effect. Have also tried releasing/renewing IP address, and pinging google yields normal responses. Only eq2 seems to be having any issues ...

Thank you for any help!

This sounds like a blocked port issue through the router. If you set up the router for port forwarding then you should be able to cut out the lag. The following website has step-by-step information on how to do so:

http://www.portforward.com/english/...routerindex.htmSimply select the router you are using, then select the 'skip this advertisement' button in the upper right, and finally select Everquest 2 on the following page. You will then be presented with a walkthrough on how to forward the correct ports. Please respond if you need any further assistance.

Thanks! I tried to do that, but it said the first port to enter in as a "service" was port 7000, however it gives me a message it is already being used by another service (although I don't see one in the list)

Sadly, we can't be experts with all of the available routers here at Sony. In this case I would advise contacting the router's support line with the port forwarding information we provided. They should be able to help you through the process and resolve that error.
