Just upgraded my wifes pc to a

GeForce GTS 250

and a rocketfish 550w power supply.

She is now having a issue while playing eq2.

After zoning several times her pc acts like it is restarting without any input from her to do so.

Problem is that it doesnt realy restart her monitor tells her her pc is off but all the fans are still running and the lights are all on. I am was thinking the powersupply isnt beafy enough for the video card, well i would think that but it works fine in sims3 all day long. So what do i need to do.. it only happens when she is zoning and only after several zonings.

Greetings,

I would actually lean toward a heat issue in this case. Have you tried opening the side of your case to improve ventilation? That should tell you if it's a heat issue. Just make sure to keep your hands out of the case while the computer is on.

Besides that, do you have all of the power connectors for the graphics card? PCI-e cards will typically have an extra connector or 2 that goes directly into the power supply. If one of those is not connected then that could be the cause of the problem.

yes i got her a new tower case with more ventilation, and she no longer gets the shut down,

but her game freezes out, she will be typing get a nice 1 min lag and all type will catch up with her. It's just like lag but noone else in raids get it and we use the same connection and i dont lag. Not sure if her graphics card is to ubber and game has to catch up or what, but its pretty random thing. Also her voice chat disconects while she is lagged, she has to log back in to voice chat. after she comes out of her freeze she ctrl+alt+del she sees like 4 or 5 voice chats running eq2voiceservice.exe .

That sounds most like a background program causing an issue or even possibly a network setting causing packets to the system to be blocked/misread for that minute.

Can you try this fix on that system and get back to us should that issue still occur?

--1. Select the START button.2. Select RUN, then type in "msconfig" (for Vista, type msconfig in the search bar at the bottom of the Start Menu)3. Press OK4. Select the STARTUP tab.5. In the list, uncheck all boxes EXCEPT for SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY. If you use Windows XP, please note that SCANREGISTRY and SYSTEM TRAY will not be listed - just uncheck the entire list.6. Hit apply and then OK. Restart the computer and try the game again.

--

Should you still run into issues, we can check into your network being a possible culprit.
