View Full Version : Movies, Cursed Cacti, and Me

There I was, innocently picking up despair crystals in the Fens. I grabbed a crystal here, dodged a cactus there and suddenly I'm watching a movie. Now don't get me wrong I think movies are great, the only problem with this movie other than the chained bard who I personally think will NEVER get away, was that when the movie was over my pet had a sliver of red life left and my health was yellow, not to mention the dead cactus at my feet.

It would be nice if the game would put you in a safe bubble if it is going to throw random movies at you.

Want to bump this... please in the future if you are going to throw random cutscenes at us, let's not make it in an area where someone is likely to be attacked. Either give us someone to click on to get the cutscene or else make us invulnerable during one.

I loved zooming past a cactus not worried because I can outrun it just to suddenly run smack into a black screen that sits there a few seconds making me go [Removed for Content]? before turning into a cutscene, then getting a nice "You have Died" revive screen when it ends because I couldn't do anything. It was a great intro to the Rime

If you get "trapped" by a cut scene, hit Escape. You can always go back and see it again by talking to the Rime Herald, where it is safe

Yeah the Order of Rime movie was just that one time. Kinda pointless to complain about it after it's happened, since it won't happen again.

Yeah you say it was just "the one time", I'm just asking that the devs take that into account next time they want to throw a random cutscene in the middle of an agro area... Is that too much to ask? I mean I would certainly not expect one there since it popped up way before you actually get to the ice area....How could anyone think that was a good idea, honestly?

And BTW, coming back to the game from a break, I did not know you COULD end a cutscene. FFS, I didn't know there WERE cutscenes now. Maybe that would be a nice little thing to put up at the top or something, because there's no way to know that BEFORE it happens....not to mention as I said, the thing was dark for probably 20 seconds before the stupid cutscreen even loaded (don't ask me why, I have a newer machine). Being new to the cutscenes, how would I even know what happened to my screen?

/I was going to include a rant here about various things but I'll just let it go... the point would be missed anyways.

It is a valid point - I think the cut scenes are cool, but preferably a player trapped in one should really be made immune to combat while they aren't able to defend or even see that they are under attack.

As I recall, I didn't get the Order of Rime cutscene until I was swimming towards The Sheet. If you got it while still by the cacti, sounds like the range on it was set too far.

I don't think cut scenes should make you invulnerable or in any way affect you, however. That sounds like it would open up far to many exploits... just put them in places where you won't be in combat anyway and avoid the issue. My guess is that it wasn't intended for you to get the Rime one that far out, thats the only case so far that I've seen where you could really be in combat and stumble into a cutscene.

I did a /feedback on this same thing. I didn't die to the cactus, but could have. And I wanted to watch the cutscene and hate to interrupt one I haven't watched yet.

Every character I have taken out there got the cut scene by the cacti. I actually wanted to see the whole thing at least once and even though I wasn't being attacked when the movie started I was nearly dead from a ninja attack by the time it was over.

Yep, cutscene was at cacti, at first I was [Removed for Content]? then the scene, it was way too far away from where the Rime were, and I agree if it's going to show it in an aggro area, it needs to make you immune. You can't exploit it, because you have no control over it.

No need for that, as I said, I already watched it and nearly died

Biggest problem for me wasnt the cutscene or the cactus but the black screen while it loads. I rebooted my computer because I thought the game had crashed.

There's no warning or anything telling you why your screen just went black. - not even a loading bar. Bit dumb.
