You will find yourself gaining EXP much faster than you gain AA. However, it is AA you really want. You will make life much easier on yourself, in the long run, if you level your EXP slowly and focus on getting AA points. It makes a huge difference to the overall playability and performance of the class. You want to beeline for the Cleric STA line "severe judgement" for the melee crit (8 points for 100%), then put 3 points in each main CA in the Inquisitor tree (invocation strike, writhing strike, strike of flames, litany circle)In the Shadows tree, you want to put 5 points in Litany of Combat, so you can run the Battle Prowess buff. (suggest 5 in hp, 5 in mana for the first line of shadows so you can access the 2nd line for Litany of Combat)That is accounting for approx 47AAs... Thats no small amount, which is why I stress really grinding out your AAs. From there, do what you feel is best. Putting some more in the Inquisitor tree CA's and getting battle cleric (the end line skill on the inq tree below your CAs) will probably yield best returns.

The above advice is no longer true, assuming you want to make it to 80 -- just zoom through, forget about AAs.

Why?

because endgame missions now give AA bonus. It's way easier to get AA now grinding etc.

Just get to 80.

Do as many shard runs as you can each day -- gets you heroic endgame gear/mounts/ + AA.

Also if you can find some people do all the old EOF/KOS/ROK instances / contested dungons to killt he named for AA.

When your see people advertising the following get in them to grab some quick bonus AA:

A) AA runs for lvl 10-20

B) AA runs from 20-40

C) AA runs in POF

-- people do this a ton on my server maybe it's rare on yours. they often charge like 10pp or something. ...which if you have been doing shard runs -- u will have tons of plat.

You can also find the guys who farm the low lvl contested/ dragons / T5 contested on your server...tell them you will heal for Free -- u don't want loot -- they will let u in prob for free and u will get half an AA per kill.

If the OP (Garaldor) races for the finish line, he will end up hitting level 80, be lucky if he has a few pieces of mastercrafted armor, and have hardly any AA. Combine that with no mythical, and I bet groups would just be dying to have him join. I believe that is a recipe for suck, for someone in the OP's position. The OP stated they are back from a 4 year hiatus. They are not going to have a lot of plat to throw around for updates/equipment, and purchasing a spot in groups if AA grinds are for sale. The game has changed a lot since Tier5, they have missed a lot. Encouraging them to zoom to 80 will result in a character that is as worth while as a freshly purchased e-bay toon. Not good.Investing some time in levelling, will result in a better structured character with AAs that significantly assist both DPS and healing. They will have also spent some more time getting back into the groove of the game, so once they reach level 80, they will perform better (due to playtime experience and character development), which will help them progress smoother when facing content designed for level 80s, and be more desirable for people to group with.So to the OP of this thread...If you want an almost worthless, [Removed for Content] toon, make haste to 80, and good luck getting an invite to a group for a 2nd time.If you want a character that can hold his own, dont rush the levelling so hard and make a point of getting AA.

I would not lock my xp to gain a few extra AA . Not with all the newly added quests in the 71-80 range and with the added AA bonus to shard zones.

reguardless of how he gets there he will have to pound rocks to get spells/base equipment.

Also you can't get through 71-80 in ROK questlines (there are some new ones also) without getting a fair # of AAs and plat to buy AA runs / starting gear with. Same with the tons of quests in SOD -- he will get a huge amount of AA in the 71-80 range reguardless. I'd focus on ROK first though then move to SOD when you hit 80. Once you hit 80 i'd start looking for a guild that you know can clear first floor of VP -- so you can get your epic update.

I was not saying to not do quests, assuming he is grinding up on quests which should net him a ton of AA in the first place. Just don't stop your XP bar on purpose - no reason to.

one other big tip prob would be to grab an AA mirror asap so you can have a DPS solo (quest) spec and a more pure heal group AA spec.

With some of the upcoming changes to our AA, crit consolidation and DPS tiering. I fear the Inquisitor will be massively nerfed. Atleast in the DPS department, basically I forsee us becoming a further watered down Templar.

If I were starting an Inquisitor today I would follow Avirodar's advice. On any of the melee healers that initial chunk of 40-odd AA points makes the leveling process far, far more fun. You'll be able to kill the named mobs as you go and forget about paying anyone for an AA run down the road.
