Ok, so after doing a fresh install from discs and finally getting the patch completed, I am able to log into the game and select my character with no difficulty. However, once the game loads and drops me into my initial zone, I am unable to interact with anything, and the game crashes to the character select screen about 60-90 seconds after the initial load is complete. I've tried various and assorted compatibility fixes as per other posts on the site with no luck, and am out of ideas? Suggestions?

Make sure that Windows Defender is off (if you use another program to handle such access); or allow it access to the SoE server ports (TCP and UCP). Usually when Vista first starts EQ2, hidden behind the game itself will be the unblock popup for Defender. So make sure in options to play the at first in Windows mode so to see that popup. If you using another firewall program just give EQ2 executables access to the internet.

Greetings,

This definitely sounds like a firewall or router issue. Try disabling your firewall temporarily. Also, try bypassing your router so you're plugged directly into the modem. Attempt to log in after trying each. That should tell us which one is causing problems so that we can configure it to work with the game.
