I am planning on rolling up a new machine ( been about 3 years now).

My primary game is EQ2 so I want it to run the best. Would a dual core AMD X2 7750 be good or maybe and AMX X4 machine?

I am thinking of having a single ATI 4850 but might do Crossfire of two cheaper cards.

I plan on running Windows 7 RC 64 bit on it and preordering Win 7 pro now.

Here is one such setup I am considering...

http://www.directron.com/spring8.html

I am open to recomendations.

Here's another. I suspect this would last me another 3 years. I would also get the $100 Win 7 PRO preorder and load the RC on this now.

Any comments?

http://www.directron.com/sysmh4.html

I have been wanting to do the same thing for the last few months now. What I want is the best bang for my buck so I was looking at either Intel Pentium Dual Core E5200 or E5300 which are cheap, but can overclock 1GHz (3GHz becomes 4GHz chip). On the other hand, the new AMD Phenom II X2 550 Black Edition just came out and has gained popularity as the best one for the price recently.

I also would like an ATI 4850 or 4770 and would go with just one card. Motherboards (two PCIe slots) and power supplies that support Crossfire aren't worth it to me. They cost more and the system would use too much power. The guides below show how spending $400-$600 would probably beat out Dell's $2000 system. Just a rough guess.

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews...clock,2310.html

http://www.extremetech.com/article2...,2346481,00.asp

http://techreport.com/articles.x/17102

I ended up ordering http://www.directron.com/sysmh4.html I think it will work well for a number of years and I can add more memory and a second video card if needed in the future.

I preordered Win 7 64 bit Pro for $100 and will run with the Win RC til then.
