I tried looking for other problems like this. I found one thread, but the solutions didn't seem to help.

Basically I wanted to fresh install EQ2 on my new Windows 7 machine. I've done it this way before where Launcher finds where the game should go and installs it. That was on XP however. I just got the new Station Launcher and started installing last night. Now it has about 100 MB left to install and I get this error:

"There was a problem decompressing the file C:Program FilesSonyEverquest IIlp_tempplc4.dll.gz. Please try again. If the problem persists use the help menu above for more info and help."

For whatever reason, every program on my computer installs to the Program Files (x86) folder BUT EQ2 which goes to the Program Files folder. I don't know if that's relevant.

It says on your patcher you should delete your patch.vpk file out of your eq2/paks folder....This worked for everyone I talked to but not for me...I've searched my entire computer and I do not have a patch.vpk folder...I've almost given up...

Adam Morrison

Gimpd

I'm not sure that fix was for my problem. I can't even get the game to finish updatin enough to let me launch the client.

That being said, I don't have that patch.vpk file in any of my folders either.

I'd recommeend these two solutions to start, if you can try them whenever!

--

Fix 1:1. Right click on Station Launcher icon and go to properties2. Go to the compatibility tab3. Click on "Run this program in compatibility mode for" and select XP Service Pack 24. Check "Run this program as administrator"5. Click Apply6. Right Click on the Station Launcher icon once again7. Click "Run as Administrator" Fix 2: 1. Make sure you are logged in on an Administrator account.2. Navigate to the Station Launcher folder (Usually c:program filessonystation will contain the Station Launcher folder)3. Right click on the Station Launcher folder and go to properties4. Click on the Security Tab5. Click on the Edit button.6. Go through each username or group listed and make sure all "Allow" boxes are checked7. Ensure that no "Deny" boxes are checked and click OK.
