For those assassins with dreams of becoming some uber guild's raid dps you are in for a rude awakening. Very few raiding guilds use assassins for the simple fact that they bring nothing else to raids but dps. With only 24 slots every person needs to fill multiple roles and the scout dps is better filled by brigands and swashbucklers who can also debuff, swipe and dispatch. Assassins are one-trick ponies whose only value is a cheap commodity: DPS. EVERYONE DPSs on raids and although they dont dps as well, their secondary ability, be it mana regen or debuff or whatever, far outweighs Assassin contributions of mere damage. Assassins are not welcome in Palace groups against Varsoon for this very reason. Their spots are often given to Brigands and Swashbucklers who can do much more to help interrupt his curse. These scouts can contribute nearly as much damage as an Assassin, close enough at least to make their involvement more certain of victory.

This is not to say that assassins are not welcome in raids, or that they don't raid successfully. However, when push comes to shove in some of the most difficult content, a raid leader would be foolish to choose an assassin over a brigand. Its that simple. Sorry guys. Play your assassin to solo, and for those spots on raid content that has been gone over again and again so much that there is some recognized leeway to victory. But for the latest content and the most difficult encounters, assassins, as they are now, will always be second-tier.
