I am a returning player and I will be making a noobie character to hang out with my friend's nooobie SK. I figure that you guys are the experts so I was wondering if you folks could give me some recommendations for a good class to play in tandem with an SK? Thank you very much for your consideration.

-Sam

From a min / max stand point, you'd want to team up a Defiler with your SK friend. Both are built around doing disease damage and debuffing that resist score, so you'd have a lot of synergy. Also Defiler is considered to be one of the top two most efficient single target healers. (Templars are the other top healer by average common opinion.)

Having said that, defilers aren't that offensive. Even by jacking up your spell crit through the KoS Intelligence line, you won't have a ton of offensive potential. If that doesn't bother you personally, then you'll be all set. However if you like to have your own offensive presence, I'd suggest that you play an Inquisitor. When melee spec'ed (with lots of AA), they are known for being the highest melee dps healer class. They are also a great melee combat buffer (which is good for the SK) and an effective debuffer. Or another good selection is a Fury. Fury is the other inherently high dps healer (via spell damage). Their buffs enhance casters, which is also very good for a SK.

So in the end, I'd say that you'd down to x3 choices. From here, it's up to you. Do you want to play a quasi-defensive healer in chain, a melee debuffer in plate, or a spell nuker in leather. The choice is really up to you. (Also you have to decide which type of healing you prefer. I've mentioned one of each of the healing types in my selections above.)

I agree entirely with what Dareena says, and from my experience I find survivability to be extremely good with an SK due to our lifetaps etc so I would go with his second or third suggestion, i.e. sacrifice a little of your heal ability to being higher dps as the SK you're with will have a reasonable amount of tools at his own disposal to not need you to have the highest heal ability possible but will benefit from your higher dps more.

Wow! Lots of food for thought. Looks like I came to the right place! After careful consideration of the information that you all have given me I have decided to go with an Inquisitor. Thanks a lot for this great information!

-Sam

Gonna have to agree with Inquis. Pump up the battle cleric line and imo its one of the most enjoyable classes in the game and the duo doesnt have any trouble doing much of anything they want.
