I've read through a few posts about the RoF thing, but none of them are having this problem, as far as I can tell. I've sent two invites, and both times my friends have gone through the download and registration of the station launcher, but they have no option for a trial. All the other games listed on the launcher have the "activate or try game" button, but all they get for EQ2 is a "subscribe" option. Neither of them have played the game before. Any idea why they don't have a trial option?

Greetings,

Are they able to log into the game without subscribing? It wouldn't be unusual that it doesn't have a trial option since the Recruit a Friend automatically starts a trial on your account. Before they subscribe, though, please go to the recruit a friend section of the station account management page and make sure both invites are displaying as 'trying game'. If they are still set to 'invite sent', then it wasn't accepted correctly. If you follow these steps it will make sure the accounts are linked correctly:

1. Go to www.station.com and click on “Join Free” in the top left corner of the webpage to create a new station name with no games on it. 2. Close that web page. 3. Now, go to the invitation email and scroll towards the bottom and click “Click Here to Start Your Adventure.” 4. On the web page that opens up click “Get Started Now!.” 5. On the next screen enter the Station Name and Password of the new account you created and click continue and you should be all set. 6. You can then go back to your invitations page and make sure it says Trying Game not Invitation Sent. Once it says Trying Game you will know they are properly attached and you can feel free to subscribe.

I've checked my account page and it shows both of my friends as "trying game". But they still can't log into the game. For lack of a better way to phrase it... there's no "play" button. The EQII button on the station launcher only takes them to a subscribe page, it doesn't open the game. And they haven't even actually downloaded the game. Unless it only took about 30 seconds. I did a live chat help and they gave me a link for them to go to download the actual game, http://everquest2.station.sony.com/install but when they go there and download the file, something like eq2.exe, when they try and run that file, it simply opens up the station launcher and it sits there updating at 0% and never moves. They have no firewalls up or anti virus software. One of them uninstalled station and tried running the eq2.exe file, thinking the station launcher was overriding it, but not he's only getting errors. When he tries to run the eq2.exe file it reinstalles station launcher and then an error comes up saying it wasn't installed correctly. Both of them are fed up and don't want to try anymore at this point. I want them to play with me but I'm not sure how much more they're willing to try.

Are they using Windows Vista? If so, try going through the following steps and then run the game using the EQ2.exe again:

1. Right click on the program launch icon2. Left click on "Properties".3. In the new window that pops up click on the "Compatibility" tab.4. In the "Compatibility Mode" area check the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"5. In the drop down list make certain that "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)" is selected.6. Under "Privilege Level" make certain that the box next to "Run this program as administrator" is checked.7. Click on "Apply" then click on "Ok".8. Right click on the icon and select "Run as Administrator"

Ok, well one friend is still downloading - another 4 hours or so to go. The other friend said it downloaded and when they tried to play they got the message "Window:"EverQuest II LaunchPad" Images could not be loaded."
