My client won't start on any of my computers either, XP or Vista.

The patcher runs and then I get this little EQ2 splash window in the middle of the screen with a progress bar on it. When the progress bar completes the EQ2 splash window closes and the game opens into full screen but then crashes before it can get to the main EQ2 game splash screen.

I am having the same problem (1:00 pm PST) although this morning I was able to play just fine from about 10:00 - 11:30 am PST. Something must have happened between then?

Jaylah

Having the same problem also.

What I have noticed this time, as opposed to an hour ago when I was in game. The lag got horrible in there, and my drive was spinning like something was being downloaded. When I logged out to restart the comp, and logged into eq2. Noticed that after I hit play, that out of game voice chat that I have disabled was loading. Then the eq2 client application has encountered a problem and needs to close message comes up.

I am also getting the exact same problem. Doesn't matter what account, or what character I select. I am using Vista 32bit and haven't had a problem like this ever before.

Once I select a character and click "Play" it has a small window with a progress bar, once the bar reaches 100%, it starts to load the game and then I get an "EQ2 Client Application has stopped working" error.

I have the same issues. Launcher works OK and patched. Kicks off Everquest2.exe, get the progress bar to 100% and the game crashes.

Was able to get around the problem by deleting the Pakspatch.vpk file.

Well i tried doing what they said would fix the problem and it didnt. This seems to be happening to everyone atm cause i was fine in game before i went to work. When i came back home this happened to me and it seems it happened to ALOT of people now at the same time so they need to fix this as soon as possible.

I never complain because i realise these things can happen but lately there has been way to many issues and im starting to get sick and tired of it. Fix this NOW

deleting the patch.vpk file doesnt work now because the patcher just reinstalls it

Run from the game directory, a direct launch, not using the patcher, it worked, hopefulyl this will be a temporary fix..

I'm now having the same issue. I was on all morning with no problem. Logged off for lunch and when I retured it goes threw the update fine but when it tries to enter the game itself the client crashes. This problem is happening on two different accounts running on two different computers both with Vista 32bit.

same problem here but i found a work around with the help here

run the patcher 1 time to make sure all your files are up to date

close patcher

delete paks/patch.vpk

run EverQuest2.exe instead of EQ2.exe(this one loads the patcher)

Put in your info and it should work

Delete patch.vpk and then skip the patcher for now by running everquest2.exe directly. We'll have the file pulled off the patcher in a few moments. Unfortunately the patcher does not delete files off your machine, so you'll have to delete the file yourself until we have a code fix available.

Locking this thead so we can keep all of the discussion together.
