ok was playing eq2 on Tuesday and had no problems, apart from the ones I know about which are due to my isp being a jerk,

Tried to log in today (the24th) and have had no luck! I get stuck on both logging into server and receiving zone info both of which takes ages to work, after I DO manage to get a character in game I get my ping go from 200 and climb upto and beyond 3000 with fairly constant packet loss as well (compared to none yesterday!) and I'm booted out! any char in various zones! I'm assuming this is something to do with the recent patch? after I got booted once I did get a windows security message asking if I wanted to block the new everquest voice service to which I chose unblock but still I'm getting insanly high pings and booted within a few minutes.

Anyone else having similar problems?

I'm having problems zoning into certain zones , currently and specifically Antonica and Enchanted lands.

All other zones seem to be fine.

Majorly long zone times , and when I do zone in they give extreme pings and I get kicked after 3 minutes or so.

Channel text takes ages to appear , spell casts take an age..and when I DO manage to get back in I appear a long way from where I thought Id reached.

Starts with the 'Logging into Zone server' taking an age.

'Waiting for entities' takes just as long.

When I DO get in , my mount takes over 1 minute to appear as does my pet...as for moving ,....the server eventually finds I've moved after 5 mins+

When I quit , the server keeps that character in zone for a good 10+ minutes before I can re-log on.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Update , it appears to be a port problem , my main suspect is the new voice chat program.

I opened my PC using DMZ so it wasn't blocking anything (every game port is normally set to port trigger when required) and I was able to log into those zones fine...

Shame I can't keep all the ports open as it's a security nightmare.

ok now here's the odd thing, I tried again around 4pm uk a few hrs after I updated to the new patch and.... back to normal!! went through each char and no high pings no packet loss and no being booted! weird or what? I assume the patch must've hiccupped, at least I'm back to normal and I hope it stays that way hehe. it's strange as I didn't alter any router settings either before or after, ah well at least I'm sorted till the next time

haha your certainly right there! I could change isp but I'm not sure if my luck would improve or not, I went into eq2 yesterday and was fairly stable so I assume the new patch either threw a wobbler or had a brain fart for a few hrs,but at least I'm back to relative normality for the time being.
