View Full Version : re.. game freezes at UI resources screen...

I needed to start a new thread because it won't let post more due to some 101 text limit thing on my old thread.

Im getting noway fast here, I read though the forums and they are just no answers. It can't be a port forwarding issue or none of my characters would be able to log. Its seems to be happening around qeynos, harbour mostly.

Now my main alt and another character are stuck zoning, one in north qeynos and the other at the harbour. The north qeynos has been stuck for 2 days now. I have tried everything, from deleting files to full re-install of Eq2, getting new graphics drivers etc and still the same problems of no getting passed 'UI loading sources screen' etc. Why can some of my character log in and others not..

My account is up in 2 days and im not coming back.

(GTX 260 in SLi mode, 3.0ghz core duo, 4gig of Ram)

I found this in my alertlog in eq2 folder....

build="SOEBuild=5721L" version="SOEVersionString=2009/6/22 15:06:09" build_type="USER OPTIMIZED" ls_address="none" zone="qey_harbor" loc="990.09 -23.13 10.98" performance="5" alert="E:liveeq2gameclientsrcGameScene.cpp(5215): Loading UI resources timed out after 10 seconds while still had pending examine requests"

don't know if this will help....

Greetings,

Does the game freeze entirely and then crash to desktop? Does it crash to character select? The nature of the crash will tell us a lot about what might be causing it.

When an issue like this effects only certain characters then it is usually a port forwarding or corrupt file issue. Port forwarding is actually fairly likely in this case since different character be set to use different ports. My first suggestion would be to try bypassing your router(assuming you use one). That will tell us if it's a port forward issue and it's an easy step to try and then reverse if necessary.

If the problem persists at that point then it's time to delete the UI/settings files and let the game redownload them. One of those files could be corrupt and causing this problem. I would advise doing the previous step first, though, since this will clear out your saved settings. You may want to delete the following files and folders:

cache foldereq2_recent.inieq2_default.iniEverQuest2.exee q2.iniAs well as the character specific files, these will appear as such:Servername_CharacterName_EQ2_uisettings.iniSt ationname_characters.ini

It will just return to character screen after a while most of the time. I do use a router/modem but have no idea how to set port forwarding. I use the BT homehub router. It doesn't make sense as sometimes I can play the said characters with no problems. I also use Vista

If that fixes the issue then you'll need to set up the router for port forwarding to continue using it.

You can actually find a detailed walkthrough about how to set up your specific router for our game at the following website:

http://www.portforward.com/english/...routerindex.htmSimply select the router you are using, then select the 'skip this advertisement' button in the upper right, and finally select Everquest 2 on the following page. You will then be presented with a walkthrough on how to forward the correct ports. Please respond if you need any further assistance.
