Okay, there's a lot of lore I've not read yet, so I might be wrong in this, or be missing parts, which is why I'm posting this, to gain more knowledge. The way I see it, the storyline, the oddessy, the swords of destiny comes down to a simple power struggle that leaves everyone scared.

I've decided to break the game up into factions, all trying to save the world from one of the other factions, all failing to see another factions intentions because they do not know enough. These factions are Norrathians, Dragons, Gods, Mayong, and Theer.

Norrathians are the creation of the gods, so place great faith in them. The view Theer as a threat because they thing he will harm the gods, and they can't imagine this being a good thing. They do not trust Mayong because he is a vampire and they think he's up to no good. And the dragons have always been powerful beings, and the norrathians fear such power. So the Norrathians are trying to save the world from Theer, Dragons, and Mistmoore.

Dragons were the first to come to Norrath, they think of themselves as the rightful heirs of the world. I would imagine that they being the first would be aware of the same catostrophe at the dawn of time that mayong is aware of, and since mayong is not friends with them, it makes me assume there is a distrust. They know the gods came after them to deposite their own beings to keep them in check, and remember Theer being the godkiller, but still would probably fear theers power. They regard the mortals as lesser, but still are aware of the power they can gain when together. They are trying to save their world from the destruction of Theer vs Gods, from the gods taking power, from Mayong discovering too many secrets, and from Norrathians amassing together.

The Gods clearly fear Theer.. they imprissoned him in the void. They are still afraid of the mortals after their breaching of the planes, and realize that mayong is ascending in power. The dragons they want to keep in check still so that they can compete in power. They are trying to save the world against an uprising of dragons, mayong becoming powerful, norrathians regaining power, and mayong from taking over.

Theer I think only has one concern, and that's bringing balance to the gods.

So, everything is just one big misunderstanding. I think if we get theer, teh gods, norrathians, mayong, and the dragons all together to just have a little chat, this whole ordeal can be resolved.
