I log in through Station Launcher and usually have no problems. However today when I tried to log in it gave me this message:

There was a problem moving C:Program FilesSonyEverQuest IIlp_tempEQ2VoiceService.exe_delta_7646_3.patched to C:Program FilesSonyEverQuest IIEQ2VoiceService.exe.

Then it tells me download cancelled. I know we have some new voice software out there. Is anyone else having this problem and if so, how did you fix it?/

My wife and I are having issues also. Since the patch this morning everytime we try to go into the game the launcher crashes with a "Windows has encountered a problem and needs to close" error. Then to desktop we go. Resetting our cable modem and router didn't help and this is happening on all three of our computers (We have 3 accounts in the household).

Can someone shed some light on this?

Craig

Ok, this is getting rediculas! 12 hours downtime without ANY comment from SOE support. Patch at 7am this morning killed my game, my wifes game, my son's game, and I just checked with a friend from work and he can't log in either since the patch. What did they do this morning?????

My wife is disabled and eq2 is all she has to do all day. She's going out of her mind with bordom.

Can ANYONE explain why eq2 crashes at startup after the patch? Seems everybody I know is broken.

Restarted 5 times and still crashing. Just got off the phone with co-workers having the same problem. They are FUMING MAD as I am also.

This is absolutely rediculas and irresponsible on SOE's part. They should let us know something about the fix. I was thinking....after all the problems the patch caused, wouldn't it have been easier to just roll the patch back after realizing it was this broken? I mean, 14 1/2 hours downtime without a hint of when the fix will be out?

Ok, I don't know anything about the crashing once the game begins ... but I think I CAN help the people who are stuck on the updater.

I had it happen with the latest patch, and with some before it. The patcher gets to a certain file, begins downloading and then BAM you get download cancelled. It doesn't matter how many times you hit download, the same thing happens.

For people with the above problem, locate the file in your EQ2 directory that it is trying to download and delete or rename it to <filename>OLD (if the game still has hold of the file). Restart the download and it should work fine. If it gets stuck on another file do the same thing again.

For some reason it has problems replacing existing files on your computer. Manually deleting it means the game can just download it from scratch.

Hope that helps someone

I use the Japanese version and plays on Sebilis, Japanese server.

So it may differ for those that play on US or EU servers.

But the guy in Japanese Forum by the name of little came up with the solution.

Just delete the patch.vpk file and relaunch the station Launcher.

(or it might be delete file before pressing that "PLAY" button.)

I was having the same trouble but am now able to launch from the Station Launcher.

You should try it on your side. Have fun!

I can almost get in then I get this:

AppName: everquest2.exe AppVer: 1.0.0.1 ModName: everquest2.exeModVer: 1.0.0.1 Offset: 004ed7a8

And I then get to send an error report to Microsfoft.

EDIT - yes, deleting the "patch.vpk" and running everquest2.exe works fine (although you lose the nicety of being able to select your player before entering the game - you start from the char select screen).

Hope you fix it soon guys!

Unfortunately, I don't have a patch.vpk anywhere in my Sony folder, so I guess SOE just screwed me royally.

Can we at least get some feedback?!?

<== raises hand, add me to the list >.< Logged in this morning for a short period. Attempt to relog this afternoon and I get the annoying green eq2 load bar, followed by a client error...... fabulous! Interestingly enough, I run Eq2 on three seperate boxes... (2) XP & (1)VISTA 32bit and the patch only fubarred one of the XP machines, go figure.

XP sp5.1

NVIDIA 7600GS series

If I may add, while i have tried most of the fixes listed by many of you (to no avail) I am simply blown away by the demeanor of the SoE rep in this forum. Others seem to extend a helping hand, while the TSR.... nvm

Deleting patch.vpk worked for me and my husband today. Sadly, two of our computers have Vista on them so we had to run advanced searches and tell the computers to look in hidden and protected files. On the two computers with XP Pro we just looked in the Sony folder to find the file. Also with Vista you will find two versions of your program files. One has been edited to 'protect' you while the other has the real program info in it.

Frustrated: Does the XP machine you still have the error on actually close out while the game is loading or before it begins? That would certainly help!

As for our demaenor, I'm not quite sure what you mean! But please send a PM my way or submit a feedback E-Mail through our support site if you'd like to discuss it.

I checked out the whole "delete patch.vpk" suggestion, deleted what they said to, and got the same results: the game started with no more issues (odd thing: the last date of update for patch.vpk was 6/16, and I'd updated everything 6/23. Was there a new file introduced and it and the old one don't like each other?). I do have the error report from Microsoft (WinXP), if you need to see it? Not sure how to get it to you; it's too big to just copy-n-paste.

Uwkete of Crushbone Server

P.S. If you guys are aware there's a major glitch, could ya take 2 seconds out and warn folks somehow? ;->
