Let me preface this post by saying im a decent geared Paladin, I do not raid regularly, so my gear reflects something of a more casual playstyle. I have 5 pieces of Tier 2 shard armor(voidknights) and a Tier 1 shard helmet(zealots) i have my fabled epic, and currently working on my myth updates. My jewelry is a mix of Tier 1 and 2 pieces with some ROK instance and Shard instance drops. My ability to tank/dps/hold agro is very good, but survivability is a bit lacking.

What i was wondering, is the agility stat worth investing into? Not the AA stat, just the agility stat in general. Some of my armor/jewelry has a decent amount of +parry +defense. My avoidance is around 57% in offense self buffed, and in defense at 60.1%.

Would raising my agility be benefical for more survivability? I currently sit around mid 400s in agility stat self buffed.

Currently im a instance tank, with light MA and OT raiding duties. Both i do great with 2 healers. I generally stay in offense at all times, only switching to defense if i realize my healers are having problems, or hard name pulls.

Any advice or constructive criticism is welcome.

Thanks

Its useful only as crit miti boost, but you shouldnt worry about it, b/c cap crit miti from agility = 10%, its approx. ~700-800 agility. In decent gear you will have enough agility.

To get agility up I use AGI adorns (they're no more than 2p a piece as they're treasured) and use the agility food (Juicy Cranberry Cobbler/Headless Cocktrice) and can get it around 530 (avoidance of 46.7% in offensive around 55/56% in defensive all in T1 at the time with one +4 parry adorn). With raid food with parry, it is close to 590. Parry adorns really help, as even a T5 +4 parry one raises the agility .5%. Except for the boost from the fabled sword for WIS, my stats are mostly balanced. To me the difference is night and day when I switch out from regular fighting gear to resist gear with its lower AGI. Get beat up without agility above 500. FYI -- the shield that I use with the +44 AGI drops in Chardok off of names.

Agility only affects contested avoidance, and with the gear that you have your numbers sound about right. What you want to look for is +Parry%, +Parry, +Defense and bonuses to shield effectiveness. Although they're spendy, there's wrist adornments that are +3% Parry, and there's a forearm adornment that is +8 Parry. Both are well worth getting on gear that you plan on wearing for a while. For your epic, there's the balanced ayr stone which adds a +3% riposte to all frontal attacks, +3% parry to others. If the fabled smoldering adornments are just too expensive, the scintillating ones would be a workable alternative.

Also do some research on lootdb.com and look for decent gear with shield block, +parry/+defense; for example, Hood of the Sphinx, Grunblig's Coil, Magmatic Bronze Rock Blocker, Longbow of the Netherflame and so on. If you see a raid offering to sell loot rights to the Savage Wall shield, the Ring of Walled Flesh and/or Xebnok's Band of Might, I'd jump at those too.

If you're wearing (mostly) T2 void armor, then you should be in good shape for mitigation with the set bonuses, so just focus on boosting that avoidance; that will help considerably when it comes to survivability. After all, not taking the hit in the first place is a good way to keep yourself standing upright.

Edit: For some really bad spelling...

Thanks for all the info guys.

My shield is adorned with +1 block chance( i hear thats worthless) im using a fabled shield out of SOH, its decent not spectacular but protection value is like 1594 (currently the best i can get atm). RNG is not nice to me. And most of the 1600+ protection value shields auction for usually 100 plat + on my server, and im not really rolling in the dough.

I use a +7 parry on my forearms currently, and on my server the wrist adornment (+3 parry) goes for 32 plat each.....

i use the MC(lv 77) necklace that gives a 2% riposte., forgot what its called. Any recomendations for an upgrade without raiding?

When raiding i use the infusions for food and drink, and for grouping its just something that buffs int/sta/str.

http://eq2players.station.sony.com/...terId=472440117 <- i know some jewelry is slightly outdated (ROK), but again RNG is a pita for me.

And one more question, off the topic of agility, how the heck do some of you guys get in excess of 15k health? i do realize alot of the high health comes from the fabled armor. i cant seem to break 13k self buffed. Is that to be expected for me with my gear or am i missing something? currently self buffed i sit at 12.5k I use sta adornments on all my armor is that worthless, i dont see a huge gain from it. I do have some +100 health adornments on my rings. But also went with STA on my other jewelry pieces.

Thanks to all who reply, your advice is appreciated.

You can get a T7 +100 health adorn for your shoulders which will give you more bang for your buck than the T8 +16 STA adorn. Likewise there's a +100 power adorn that's better than getting the +16 WIS adorn for your helm.

Unquestionably, the high health you see with some Paladins is just a function of their gear (not just armor, but also charms and jewelry). Your typical raiding Paladin would have around 16K health or so self-buffed; a top-end raiding Paladin in avatar gear can get around 18-20K health self-buffed.

All that said, health is important, but strive to achieve some balance. Don't [Removed for Content] yourself just to get high health; you wouldn't doing yourself or your group any favors. It's one the tougher things about gearing out Crusaders in general, because the class needs a "a lot of everything" to be effective.

Agility should be considered secondary like the rest are saying. Focus more on the % defense parry items for shield weapon wrist items. A lot of your defensive gear will come from SoH which I still use until my TSO armor fricking drops. I'll send you my equipment stats so you can see. This armor is very easy to attain and will put you in a good position. And I sit currently selfbuff at 14,994 hps.

http://eq2players.station.sony.com/...terId=110502104
