Is there some sort of guideline for the first letter of traditional Dark Elf Surnames? I ask this because alot of letters seem to crop up alot, you get alot of T'<something>s for example. Perhaps it means something, like the place that family originated from? Any clarification would be most helpful. Thanks in advance.

The first letter of a dark elf's surname represents the district of the city they were born in. T, V, and N are most common for the 3 major districts of Neriak.

That's cool, did not know that. I wish we could put more in our names than just letters.

Thanks- I also found something about areas of the Underfoot that the Dark Elves used to dwell in, but never anything about Neriak so thanks. And to the above poster, you can have apostrophes, but that's about it.

The surnames of Teir'Dal also range in all 26 letters of the alphabet, based on the 26 original "clans" that came out after Innoruuk released the Thexs' and their attempted rescuers from the Plane of Hate.

Where'd that bit of info come from?

(Warning: basing the follwoing on "Non-Cannon" PnP Info)

I have noticed that even some of the names of the "Firstborn" who were originally "Light" elves use various letters followed by an apostrophe in their surnames which are supposedly the same names they carried before their transformations within the Plane of Hate. This seems counter to the district and 26 "Clans" theories presented.

As I have no real idea myself I am curious as to where these answers came from as I have always had a keen interest in the Teir'Dal (and dark elves in general) and would love to add to my knowledge base on them. As always, thanks in advance....

~K~

Good info on the site you linked KniteShayd...

But ready on some of the stuff there brought up some new questions that perhaps someone can shed light on.

One of the things I had read on one of the posts there said that Mayong Mistmoore was the first Teir'Dal to learn to use magic. This boggles me as I have read that the Teir'Dal come from not only Queen Cristianos and King Naythox I, but also from the corrupting of the Koada'Dal that came to the Plane of Hate to rescue them. Which would lead one to understand that the Koada'Dal already possessed magical aptitude. So if the Koada'Dal that became Teir'Dal through exposure in the Plane of Hate already were wizards, enchanters, etc., how could the Mistmoore story be valid?

Anyhow just something that caught my attention...

~K~

It's not. There's no evidence to prove that Mayong was even a Dark Elf at one point, and it's still up for debate to just when he came into existance.
