View Full Version : Four To The Floor

I was thinking of a character to make, and part of his betrayal story is the Academy. Now, before I can go on with this.. I wanted to know just what the hell I'm talking about...

So, anywhere I can read up on them? I've always wondered if all of these groups have any details or backstories. Tunarian Alliance, Concordium, Celestial Watch, Qeynos Guard, Freeport Militia, et cetera.

My priority is the Academy, but any of the others sounds like an interesting read. I can't wait to check back later.

what we know about the academy really is just that it was Freeport's mage guild, run by what everyone thought at the time was a human illusionist named Opal Darkbriar. however if you knew about the Dismal Rage, Opal Darkbriar I believe was also the necromancer trainer. I don'tt hink anything else is really said other then that after Lucan took complete control of FP, Opal became the Foci and didn't bother with her illusion anymore.

In addition, the Academy building right now? That's not the original mage place. First one was floating right above Freeport - the Citadel. Lucan basically kicked everybody out and took it as his place of rule.

At least, that's what I remember.

Opal then formed a rival faction of Innoruuk worshippers called the Church of the Firstborn that consisted of mainly of necromancers in contrast to the Dismal Rage and its clerics. Sounds alot like the rivalry in Neriak between the Dead and the Church of Innoruuk there doesn't it?

Historically, the Academy of Arcane Sciences is a collection of spellcasters who gathered together to share and collect knowledge of the arcane arts, while researching new ideas and spells. Originally they shunned those of an "evil bent" but since the shattering and the changes implemented by the Overlord that has changed.

The Freeport Militia was instituted by Sir Lucan D'Lere after his ousting from the Knights of Truth, as a way to maintain his charge of keeping the city of Freeport safe whilst the bulk of the Order of Marr and the Knights of Truth were away on the Crusade of Tears. Sir Lucan began hiring any and all mercenaries that would swear loyalty to him and quickly built, what was effectively his own private army.

I could go into a long winded post but in my humble opinion even tho they are not fully considered canon in-game as its not "in-game", the PnP (Pen and Paper) game supplements have quite abit of useful background info on the various factions.

~K~
