im trying desperately to get my faction up with these crafter folks...but it seems all i can do is these dang repeatable writs only getting me +200 each...is there any faster way to up my faction?

The Grandmaster series also gives faction

http://eq2.wikia.com/wiki/Journeyman_Service

edit to add: usually, doing rush order vs regular writs will give more faction, so do rush order as soon as you are comfortable.

Timed writs (Rush Orders) give 500 faction, more coin and require fewer items to be made.

If you adventure and are of a level, there is a bit of status to be gained from the TSO Miragul questline in Everfrost.

Nosing in the the Nasins is the starter quest for the series, given by Chiara Oscura. Once you finish those two, there's another titled Getting There Before The Coalition. At the end of this quest, you gain 5k status with Ironforge. This series goes hand in hand with the series given by Lucretia Nasin.

Other than the writs, this is the only other way I know of to get faction with Ironforge that's not done by crafting.

It's never been 500, It has been 300 since it was raised from 150 when introduced.
