Where is the Monk class headed? Currently our tanking skills are comparatively very weak to every other tank, and we are out dpsed by ever other tank class maybe with the exception of a Guardian. What are we supposed to be? I've been told before that we are "utility" if that is the case can we please have some utility buffs that make is viable raid choice? I don't feel like i fit anywhere. I'm not asking to be the best at anything tanking/dps wise, but right now everything just seems to so blah.

Where is our class going?

Will we ever be "Real" tanks?

Or will brawler dps be bumped to be at the top of the fighters at the very least?

I just am curious to know what direction this class is taking i have no preference to which one, its just right now i feel we are lacking in every department and have zero direction. I enjoy playing my monk a lot, but we dont have any sort of niche that makes us worthwile, and the thing we are supposed to be semi-good at are just VERY weak in comparison.

- Jobber 80 Monk, Mistmoore

Pretty much the monk class has been going nowhere for a few years now. The Devs seem to not know what to do with Brawlers in general, and the player base for the monk class are divided as to what they want to do many want to be pure dps others want to be a tank. Personally i would like to make monks and to a extent bruisers the most viable choice for tanking, yet give them a option to DPS, brawlers being the only fighters with a balanced stance we should be able to be pure dps while still being able to gain snap aggro in offensive stance, still out dps the other more survivable fighters (in offensive stance) in balanced stance but gain more survivability and be able to hold aggro and stay alive in defensive stance, while still out dpsing other fighters (in defensive). Also monks and bruiser need a group buff something to fill out the last consentration slot, something i would like to see that would be unique and give us a bit of utility is two group buffs one for dps one for tanking that will inprove the groups dps and survivabily respectively, only one of which would be up.

Aditionally inprovement on the int and sta brawler lines should be in work making sta more viable for tanking and int for dps, giving brawlers 5 trees that they may think about taking instead of the 3.5 we currently have.

The monk tree has been cursed at enough for me to not repeat, something needs to be done, also a ae atau attack would be amazing or get rid of the aoe on hit and give us flurry (traditionally flurry is pretty monkish *cough* flurry of blows *cough*)

TSO lines comparatively to every other class should make you want to slit your wrists something needs to happen getting 2 snap aggro single target spells is not really needed give us a tank end line for the monk line and a dps end line easy enough and clean up the rest of the trash lying around the monk line.

but devs seem to not read the posts on this forum so these words will be lost in the sands of time.

~~Lavrence Starleaf~~~~80 Monk~~

You forgot some of us actually like the class and dont want anything to change. The other thing you forgot is there are people who want us to stay utility based too.

There is no utility fighter in this game. If there were, it's plate fighters because they have more and better utilities than us.

For OP, we are tanks.

Brawlers have problems tanking with lower end gear because mobs hit too hard in this expansion. After gearing up, we can tank in raid and in heroic instances.

One of the issues i still run into Couching is my ability to agro AoE. Tabbing from one NPC to the other is kind of shoddy and when i see someone like a zerker just walk in and hit a couple of buttons or a SK walk in and lock agro on a whole encounter it makes me feel inferior. So the instances where i do get to tank, are usually trivialized by a class that can do it better. Whats next? Well since i don't get to do my intended role very well and don't get to see the brighter side of fighter tanking, i polish the dull side and work on my DPS. I DPS very well because i've concentrated my efforts to that goal instead.

If AE aggro is an issue for you, the best advice I can give you is to form your own groups, and stack them with the following classes in order of preference: dirge, coercer, swashbuckler, assassin, illusionist, brigand, troub. Stay away from warlocks especially, wizards, and rangers. Conjies can be difficult and rip aggro too, but most of them are just awful dps and as a result don't rip much. Necros are fairly neutral...just save peel for lifeburn.

Even you don't tank, our aoe dps is still behind zerker/sk, not to say other dpsers.

Seems pretty sad Monks have to make their own perfect group to tank instances- How about SOE get off there @ss and make some positive changes for the class.

We get our raidwide nerfed and every other tank gets a boost - Brawlers get the Strength line changed after 4 years ........ thats basically sums up the Monk part of the fighter changes.
