Here's Kurn's Lore. Somewhat odd. I see no tie to the void.

Transcribed from lost texts of the Old Empire recently recovered from the library Myrist...During the height of the Iksarian Empire of Old, Kurn was one of Venril Sathir's most loyal subjects. Obsessed with torture, Kurn was the perfect choice for an imperial executioner and interrogator. Not wishing to fill the walls of Sebilis with the screams and tortured cries of their enemies, Venril ordered the construction of a great tower beyond the city walls where Kurn could perform his grim duties. For decades, Kurn perfected his art on the most hated foes of the Iksarian Empires, with many individual cases lasting years.Kurn's obsessive nature led to the tower's downfall. One evening, while engaged in the torment of his most prized subject, another prisoner escaped and descended into the nethermost depths of the dungeon, which Kurn had been using as a storage place for several obsolete and failed torture devices. From there, the prisoner managed to dig a tunnel, escaping the confines of the nightmarish tower. Unfortunately, the route the prisoner carved opened up a portal for the Burynai race.Enraged at their discovery, the Burynai invaded the tower through the prisoner's tunnel, vowing to destroy the threat they deemed the tower of torture posed to their culture. Within days, the tower was overrun by Burynai necromancers and shamans. Kurn was captured, his execution only stopped when the tribalk elder became fascinated with the discovery of his torture infrastructure.. The tribal elder ordered the tower sealed and guarded, assuring that any who dared to enter the domain would be swift to die.His own torture devices used against him, Kurn was subject to the Burynai's experiments. Eventually, over a year later, the Iksar would finally perish, only to be ressurected as an undead servant by the disappointed Burynai elder. To this day, the undead remnants of Kurn lurk in the innermost depths of his dungeon, existing only with the savage will to torment any that enter the confines of his chamber.

lets look at it this way. we know that the void has had a presence on Norrath for a LONG time. back through EQ1 with the shadowedmen...we know Munzok has been here before and the Order of Flame pushed him back. we know in EQ1 we got to run through Kurn's tower...but if I recall correctly certain floors were closed off/collapsed.

for all we know, Munzok and Ione have been here the whole time, abiding by the plans of Anashti or Theer, hidden behind the veil that only just recently Najena was able to strip away through her research into the Theer rune. I mean the force of it was more then enough to catch Theer's direct attention in the Void, and i think they do mention that the covering was also peeled back from the Tower.

Kurn may well been her toy, Ione occupying the 'collapsed' levels of the Tower that the void has been chipping away at...and who knows what exactly went on in the Tower beforehand, other then the stories of torture and torment. the void itself is known to have destructive and corruptive influence...perhaps Kurn sught it out with the idea to use it's powers to aid the torture of those inside.

what I find interesting on her is her title. the lifebringer. that could imply her job is to capture new slaves/servants/races to be intergrated into the void..or maybe her powers are necromantic and she raises defeated/dead void creatures to fight again.

*Insert Standard EQ vs EQII post PoP disclaimer here* Just wanted to point out that Kurn's Tower, the original one back during the War of the Scale, as EQLive adventurers discovered in Seeds, was the hub of the Discordian invasion in that time period. So it could be that the fabric of reality/space-time/whatever may be particularly weak around that Tower in general. And with respect to Kurn, the dialog quote above sounds like it could fit in unchanged with the Discordian plans in general back when we fought them. Anyways, *repeat standard 'different games, different timelines' disclaimer*. I just wanted to point out how similar it was.

History is attempting to repeat itself once more. Even I do not know what this could be refering to with clarity. Could this orb be the Scryona Orb that Asharae carried around with her along with the other Ethernauts? I am not powerful enough to complete the ethernaut storyline in TSO, so I don't know what actually happens at the end. I was given a quest to infiltrate the X2 version of Kurn's Tower, and that is where the Order of Rime storyline leaves off for now...

Doesnt sound like the orb asharae has, sounds like something dealing with ratonga and their lil god that lives in the underworld, the story that has been building up for quite awhile now.

They refer to the Burynai as rodents, and that bard he keeps locked up often tells the burynai tale of what Kraytoc is talking about.

What about the heart of ro fragment that was talked about in some of the new lore that the burynai had? Rehashing the asharae orb would be a pretty ridiculously stupid storyline.

Cusashorn

That is what I'm talking about. It's a burynai legend as told by an iksar bard. What the Burynai were handeling may have very well been Asharae's orb from ancient times ago.

A piece of the sun and asharae void owning orb being one of the same doesnt make much sense though

If the orb glows, then it's not impossible for them to be connected.

in the TSO end, you learn the Scryona was destroyed. that part I think is in the text from Bayle.they had Asharae basically overload it and used it as a bomb to blow up one of the major links in the void. Asharae states that when you go to face Varsoon that the she has lost everything, including the scryona, all she had left to give was her life.

I imagine that the 'rodent legend' the item is somethign potent, but not what they thought it was. they thugh they found the 'burrow of the sun' they probably found some other arcane artifact...that now Ione has.

Cusashorn

So it was destroyed? Ok then. I didn't know if it was or not, since I won't be able to even enter into Palace until I reach level 90.

Truth is, you're suppose to have the illusion for the whole darn thing. I only had to faction up a little bit before Rentiri gave me the first of his quests under the illusion. When I hit 25K with the illusion on, he gave me the quest to go to JW. I finally factioned up high enough that the illusion no longer worked when I did a couple quests in JW.

....And you have to have the illusion on to get the x2 quest. Well, you have to have entered the group version of Kurn's Tower as well. I went in there and was instantly flagged. Didn't have to complete it and got the quest anyway.
