Maybe they are related. The name Chelydridae is kinda close to Cheldrak, who has a similar model to the Turgan.

The water bohemoths off Antonica look like the bohemoths in the Caves, large creatures of stone.

adding:

Per Wikipedia "Metaphorically, the name has come to be used for any extremely large or powerful entity."

I would definitely call Cheldrak a bohemoth with that definition.

As a lowbie those water bohemoths off Oracle Tower bluff were "extremely large" entities to my gnome.

Perhaps "turgan" is simply what the Order of Rime inhabitants call them?

Perhaps, but with the name first introduced by what the Order of Rime calls them, It's not to unreasonable to call Cheldrak a Turgan just for common appearances.

From what I recall, the Behemoth were creatures which inhabited Norrath even before the gods arrived. I was also under the impression that they came in different varieties.

Norrathian Behemoths are probably closely related in idea to Dinosaurs, or other prehistoric creatures.

The Leviathan is a behemoth. Upon his death, he drops a behemoth eye. From the book's description, these dragon turtles could also be behemoths. I'd imagine a story told by sailors would have something to do with a giant tentacled sea monster

Keep in mind, the Leviathan had the structures built around him.. full size and not confined, he'd be a formidable sight.
