I was playing early this morning on a Vista Laptop. Had to run out for a few. Came back home and all I get when I try to log in is that the game lets me log in to the character select screen. Logs me in as the character I want to be, then just sits there telling me that it is trying to connect to the zone server. There is no activity in the progress bar.

Not sure what the problem is.

My character is on the crushbone server.

Update: found out I can log into one of my alts, just not my main char.

Thanks

Manatheren.

We just received an e-mail that Crushbone is experiencing some issues at the moment. It appears to be happening across multiple zones, but that is the only server that has reported the issue so far. I will post an update when I receive any new information.

Thanks for the info. I believe I was in moors so that explains that one.

Manatheren

An attempt to move a character through the CS tools here from moors wasn't successful so it seems characters are lodged in where they're stuck currently. Either Dan or I will be sure to let you know when we have an update!

Same problem. Cannot log into character located in Moors, but can login to any other character not located in that zone.

Is anyone still experiencing this problem? The information I have received states that it should be fixed now, but I just want to make sure everyone is able to get in at this point.

I am currently experiencing this problem on 'The Bazaar' server. My main, a shadowknight, crashed en route from The Sinking Sands to Neriak via the carpet ride and has been unable to fully load into the game world since (approximately 1 hour) as I sit idle at "connecting to zone server" during the loading process. I am, however, fully able to log in as an alt in Freeport no problem.

I'm also stuck on 'Connecting to zone server'. After a few minutes with no activity on screen, I see stuff load rapidly and then I'm kicked back to the Character select screen. I have characters on various zones (Darklight wood, BB, Commonlands), servers (Permafrost, Nagafen) and continent-servers (US and EU) and all are affected. I have not been able to play since June 14-15 or so.

Could it be a Vista update that causes this? I have tried with the Vista firewall on and off. I have done a full scan of EQ2-files.

Should I uninstall EQ2 and reinstall?

Thanks in advance

In Vista the button to access that list might be displayed as 'allow a program through the firewall'. That list will then have a series of entries with checkmarks next to them. Please delete any entry that contains the words EQ2, Everquest 2, or Launchpad. You will then be asked to allow them again the next time you log in.

Hopefully that should resolve the login problem.

Thanks for the reply, DanielH! I must have missed it when I checked for replies earlier.

I have now tried what you suggested: I unticked everything related to EQ2 in the firewall's exception list, including the launchpad. I restarted the PC and started EQ2. The problem remains the same. (I was never prompted to give EQ2 access to the Internet or someting like that, which I had expected.)

I then restarted once more and changed everything back. I also created new entries and gave every exe-file in the EQ2-folder access. After another restart, the problem still remains.

I am now installing EQ2 on another PC on the same home network. The original PC has Vista 64-bit, but the one I am installing to has Vista 32-bit.

Before the problem started, I had run EQ2 for about a month without issues. The only things that has changed are Vista updates and EQ2 updates.

Do you have any further ideas?

Thanks again!

I have now installed and updated EQ2 on the other PC. The problem is still there.

Evidently, the problem is on my end. Since I appear to be the only one actively posting on this problem, I must assume it is a rare one. Therefore it should not be related to Vista updates or EQ2 updates. Or are other people having this problem too?

I am having this issue as well. I can log in easily from the EQ2 Launcher bu will occasionally be booted to character select when changing zones. I cannot reenter the world on the booted toon (due to being stuck at 'Connecting to Zone' without exiting EQ2 and restarting the game.

I'm having a similar but further problem with mine. I play on the Splitpaw server and cannot log into my main. It does the same thing, tries to load then kicks me to character select. He's in Starcrest commune atm, not Moors etc.

I can log into my alts but after playing for under an hour, everything becomes unresponsive to my characters. My char will continue doing what he was doing but whether i'm crafting, fighting, looting etc, it all stops. I can even run round in the game world but not zone or have any interaction whatsoever with the game world. Can't even chat in the channels.

I can't camp at all but if i choose to exit to the desktop without camping, it takes me to the character select screen.

Anyone have any ideas for me?

EDIT: I'm not using Vista, running XP home ed.

We appreciate the update, Tityo!

I'm not familiar with Zyxel routers - though they do seem to be pretty strict when doing a bit of research.
