Starting with my logon i can no longer access any voice chat channels (guild, guild officers, group). I get a messege that tell me I am not in a channel. Everything was fine yesterday. I also received a messege from microsoft that told me that Vivox failed.

When I logged on, Friday June 12th, I did unblock for vivoxservice. Came into the game and chat isn't working. I can see the chat box, but my name nor others are in it. I ran a full file scan several times, repatched several times but to no avail. Checking with my Windows firewall, vivoxservice shows as an exception.

Went onto a live server, where it sort of worked.

So what's next?

Thanks, Mo <-------- is missing her chat. ((

Voice chat still works - it just doesn't work properly. When I join a group and then join group chat, half the time I get immediately booted out. If I join a raid and then join raid chat, half the time I get booted out just as soon as I join. And if it doesn't happen to me its guaranteed to happen to at least one other person in the group or raid. Now, the funny thing is, if the group or raid leader types /voice invite <name of person who can't get in the channel> then that person WILL GET INTO THE CHANNEL AND THE CHANNEL WILL WORK PROPERLY.

I'm no computer genius but I'm pretty certain this glitch doesn't have anything to do with Windows firewall or any other firewall. It's a screwup in the voice program itself. And its happening on both Test and Live servers.

Yep, we've had a lot of people lately having the boot problem in raids. And as soon as the raid leader invites them they are fine. No idea what is causing it, I haven't been affected personally.

For the last few days, Group has randomly been omitted from the list of voice channels. This is on top of the various problems with joining the channel and only a few people being listed in the channel. This is an issue because then i cannot control their volume if they are not in the list.

Same thing here Autenil, what I see when I try to join a my group Vchat channel or raid VChat channel I get booted with the message incorrect password. Yes I am getting incorrect password from the default group and raid VChat channels. If the gruop/raid leader invites a person it allows them to enter the Vchat channel. So the work around for now is to have to group/raid leader invite people into the Vchat channel.

Not only is "EQ2VoiceService.exe" a new file added silently by the patcher, along with its buddy "libsndfile-1.dll", but neither one of them has any file properties or digital signature to verify their source. You do have to unblock EQ2VoiceService.exe from windows firewall, or any other security software you're running. As a matter of fact, Spybot Search & Destroy resident detects it as some sort of virus or malware & is thrown into an infinite loop as it continously blocks the executable from loading & the process reloads itself under a different process ID, blocks it, reloads itself under another PID, etc... The workaround for me was to right-click the Spybot S&D resident icon in systray & exit it while in game.

I understand this is part of the effort to fix existing bugs with the integrated voicechat. But next time executable files needing network access are pushed to clients, that were not part of the package previously, please list or at least mention them specifically by name in the update notes. Also, please add digital signature or at very least file properties so there is a version number & they can be identified as legitimate, belonging to SOE/Vivox.

Feldon has described my problem EXACTLY, and Whenshen has hit the anil on the head. The omissions were poorly implemented, and we should have been told about the new exe files. A little communication from the Dev staff that they know of this problem that is OBVIOUSLY effecting the whole community would have been nice. We actually still do not really know if they are working on it, or hoping the problem will fix itself ... just as it crept into the code ... without their knowledge ? Ya right ... I've got some bottom land for sale too. Wanna buy a bridge ?

Funny, but in all seriousness, this is why most raiding guilds stick with Ventrillo or Teamspeak. EQ2's in-game voice chat has always been a bit flakey; it's completely broken and unreliable now. Those few that did switch have undoubtably switched back to their previous third-party voice software, and I doubt they're going to be eager to repeat this mess. Still, I'm not sure SOE understands how significantly they've screwed up here.

I've had the same issues as everyone else on here. I've read eveyone's little fixes and it doesn't seem to work for me. I even downloaded a fresh copy EQ2 the whole game and still the problem is there. I either get voice chat connnect failure:1072 or can't detect windows mic in the otions>voice chat, or I can see anyone or hear them in group, then it kicks me out of any channle I'm in. Any feedback would be good. Also have Vista X64 wireless laptop that I run EQ2 on and it has the same problem. Built in Mic and speakers, and I know they work.

This is from the Official Forums:SOE Rothgar wrote:

Quote
Yes, we do know there are people that cannot connect. I play almost every evening and I'm in a guild with 40+ members. Of those members I'm seeing almost every permutation of voice issue out there. We have a couple of people who cannot connect at all. We have some that occasionally get booted out of the channel. We have some whose devices keep getting reset and can either hear and can't speak or vice versa. I'm also aware that some people are seeing crashes of the voice service.Personally, I started having issues on my home computer this evening where I was getting booted from the guild channel in the middle of the raid. Sort of makes it difficult to MT and communicate with the raid so I certainly understand.I tweaked with some of my own firewall and client settings until I found a combination that seemed to fix my problem. But when I tried to work with several of our members who weren't able to get into the channel at all, my fixes didn't help them.Is this a top priority for us? Yes, it certainly is. However, there are some issues we have control over and some that we don't. As I stated before, we are working with Vivox on all of these issues to get them resolved ASAP. While combinations of software and hardware can cause different problems for different people, it doesn't mean we need everyone to send us their hardware info. Fortunately we have a lot of logging on our end and on the voice server side that helps us to see what is going on. The fix for the problem will almost certainly be a software change on our end, and not something that you have to change on your computer to make it work. So unfortunately that means there isn't much you can do until we have the fixes completed and rolled out.We are all very sorry for the inconveniences because we understand how important voice communication is to gameplay. We also know that you guys took a leap of faith by using our voice chat over the other third-party apps out there. We are trying our best to fix these issues as fast as we can and in the end we hope to meet our goal of having a better voice service through the improvements we've been making over the past few months.

Further in the thread that came from was this bit of info:Yerma wrote:

Quote
Like many others my VC stopped working last update. I traced the problem to my Comodo firewall detecting and blocking fragmented and malformed data packets:UDP packet length and size on the wire (1557 bytes) do not matchplusFragmented IP packets are not allowed. The problem is likely down to most firewalls, routers etc have a max MTU of 1500 and VC is using larger packets (1557). The messages are being broken up and somewhere getting blocked. In my case I went into Comodo's Advanced Detection and PreventionMiscellaneous Tab and unchecked:Block fragmented IP datagramsDo protocol analysisVC works fine now. I guess people need to check their MTU settings and fragmented packet blocking in their firewalls ans routers.

and Rothgar responded with:

Quote
Thats very interesting information. I can see where this would certainly cause problems for some people. I'll pass this data along first thing Monday morning.

There are many, many issues with voice atm, some are network/permision related issues that may or may not be within your control.

However, I've detailed several repeatable bugs that exist in voice. I don't want to repeat information, so here is the link to the post I made in support:

http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=453537

Note, almost all of these existed on test last week as well.

Well, even though GU51 and GU52 have been the worst updates since eq2 went live I am going to try my best to give something constructive as feedback.

Here it goes...

1. Voice chat has been horrible since it was implemented.

     a. People tend to break up more then with any third party application. - I know you guys can do better then this!

     b. People can not chat while zoning (half the time) - Set voice up as an exterior program so eq2 doesn't disrupt it.

     c. People get an open mic when zoning (the other half the time) - see above

     d. Have a feature that plays a sound when you key and unkey (make it something that can be disabled)

     c. Bring in an autoequalizer so that it makes everyone speak at the same volume.

     d. Add additional effects to voice, voice fonts, etc.

     e. Add voice to station launcher and leave it there. Keep it out of eq2 all together and just have the control options in game.

     f. fix all known issues!
