View Full Version : Patcher Error

I was playing just fine yesterday until this morning. After servers went down, i ran the updater / patcher and its saying 6 hours for updates. im looking at the files that its trying to download, right now they're a lot of mp3 files, i searched for them and i have them all. All the music files play fine and are there. I tried the beta patcher and the normal eq2 one and both seem to want to download all my files again. Is there something that is directing the patchers to some other folder, i have eq2 installed on a different folder, not the program files > sony > eq2 etc.

Ive had eq2 working fine like this for years and today its doing that. Anyone have any idea what could be happening? Any help will be appreciated, thanks.

Greetings,

You might want to delete the 'Cache' file out of the Everquest 2 directory. Delete that file and then choose the 'full file scan option' from on the launchpad. You might want to turn off the optional downloads under the 'download options' button as well. That should force the launchpad to verify which files have already been downloaded.

tried this and nothing changed, its still trying to download the mp3s all over again, on the same folder, just seems to re-write over them, and theres nothing wrong with the files. i skiped over this error last update by getting an everquest.exe from a friend, but now that gu52 is here, i dont know how to get around this error.

Are you using Windows XP or Vista, currently?

This sounds a lot like the problem I'm having right now, too, so I deleted the cache file -- but I can't figure out how to run a complete file scan. Isn't that under the "preferences" button? It's currently unavailable.

Since today's update, I've gone from 7 hrs to go, down to 2 hrs, back to 5, down to a couple of minutes and back to a few hrs. The files that are downloading all seem to end in .vpk. Never had a problem like this before...

PS I'm using XP.

A reign of terror caused by VPK files - You woudln't be the first recently to mention such an issue. Regrettably they will need to be downloaded and it can take some time, but let me know if the ETA starts steadily increasing instead of just being erratic.
