All the betrayel stuff I've seen deals with changing factions, but I need a step by step on how to change professions but NOT betray my city/faction. Anyone have a link to some info? I'm wanting to remain a Q, but be a SK. Thanks.

I have not heard of any faction building quests for the starter citys outside of the Betrayal quest. I am 99% sure this is not possible.

Sorry but it isn't possible. Shadowknights are an evil only class. So if you want to be an SK you gotta betray to Neriak, Gorowyn, or Freeport.

You can only do this on the PvP servers.

Are you on a PvE or PvP server? Betraying a Paladin to Sk on a PvE server will require you to switch from good to evil (Qeynos/Kelethin to Freeport/Neriak/Gorowyn). I have heard that this is different on PvP servers, but I have no PvP toons to verify though.

Your class trainer will give you an option to pick Paladin or ShadowKnight. Because there are no SK trainers in Qeynos, you will have to go back to your Paladin Trainer and he will give you the option.

Ok, went to a paly trainer, nothing. I asked guild they said I still have to do the quest, but I'm still confused. I do the quest, exile, then talk with trainer, select SK, then do some sort of quest to get back to Q?

Betrayal isn't that easy. You need to gather faction so that they like you again (from -50,000 to +10,000) http://eq2.wikia.com/wiki/Betrayal_Timeline That has all the information you'll need to gather faction and regain citizenship.

Also, every time you leave exile for a city, your spells will downgrade to Apprentice I

So expect to die a lot, and if its crowded, yea...good luck...

Make a level 1 in Neriak. Get some gear for your level 1 to wear. Get a lot of repair kits. Get a lot of run speed. Betray Get faction in Freeport with the quests "The Seed of Tunarbos", "Close The Door Behind You" Die to jump around Antonica Repeat the Quest +10,000 faction in under 2 hours Welcome to Freeport. Or...if you're lv70+ do the quest "Spreading The Truth" and you can just waltz right on in to North Qeynos and dodge the guards in and out of the instance. Beware the x4 guard that shows up at the wrong time always and clotheslines you.

You're level 12 and on a pvp server. Wouldn't it be faster to just make a SK in Qeynos anyway? Hardly takes more than an hour or two to get to lvl 12 these days anyway.

It doesn't work that way. We are still bound to the same PvE rules at character creation. Only difference is that it doesn't matter where we betray to, when we talk to our class trainer, he/she will always give us the option of picking the other class. And for Qeynos, I would just go to Kelethin because it's faster to farm faction. Just do those quests where you have to release the fish in the ponds (but only do the fish quest where they want you to release the fatheads because that pond is right next to the druid ring, which is close by. again, it's another ~2 hour faction grind.)

/nodTo repeat what everyone else is saying... to change your class but stay in the same city (it doesn't matter if you're going from neutral class to the other neutral class (possible on all servers) or going from alignment class to the other alignment class on a PVP server), you still have to completely betray and re-earn your faction to get back in to the city.

As always, earning your faction with Kelethin or Neriak (and then citizenship moving to Qeynos or FP (---> Gorowyn)) is much faster then going through Qeynos or FP. (Betraying to FP is paticularly bad, as not only do the general faction quests take a while, the 'Learning Your Place in Freeport' quest can take far too long (or at least hurt your wrist with all the tedious clicking)). So... for you, I'd go through Sprockfuddle's betrayal quest (it doesn't take too long), then try to make my way over to GFay/Kelethin. Once there, run Basic Biodiversity until your eyes start leaking out. It's (generally) the fastest of the quests offered, and it's incredibly easy, too. (As noted by Kendayar, the Hatchling Release where you release Fatheads is even quicker, but you might have to do a gazillion delete-request-deletes to get the Opal pond.) Once you've done that, then just jump over to South Qeynos. You'll die a few times along the way due to exile's being natural targets, but it shouldn't be that difficult.

(For the sake of being vaguely informative, someone wanting to go the other way should run Neriak's Traps and Stones May Break Your Bones, which I think might be even faster then the Kele betrayal track. If they then want to go to FP or Gorowyn, they'll need to head to the Clerk in EFP.)
