View Full Version : Tradeskill Experience after you reach level 80

I searched for this and found no hits. Sorry if its been discussed before.

Once you reach level 80 in adventuring, your adventuring experience increases your AA experience.

Where does your level 80 tradeskill experience go?

Perhaps:

To increase your tradeskill vitality?

To increase your harvesting skill?

It just seems it should be used for something.

no where. It just hits cap and stops. The same thing happens for adventuring if you are at cap for both XP and achievement. Before there were achievements, adventure XP hit the cap and stopped, too.

For one or two of the three level increases, everyone capped was given full vitality. For the other(s), they started leveling in the new tier with zero vitality unless they waited a week before starting.

It goes for nothing. Unfortunately. It has been discussed before, but it is still a loose end. There doesn't seem to be a way for it to be used. Devs don't want to put it in AA since TS AA is not separated from adventure. Putting it in vitality would serve no purpose because vitality has no purpose when you aren't gaining experience.

Such fine Corinthian detailing!

Joking aside, you can pull things out of a recycling bin if it's needed in the future. A better analogy would be flushing it down the toilet. You're extra tradeskill XP lives with crocodiles in the sewers.

They could at least turn off the 'You receive bonus tradeskill experience' message when you make your first pristine of an item when you don't receive any exp at all.

Oh really, says I, when I didn't even get the regular XP for it?

Its possible for a seperate AA system to be put into place for just tradeskills and earned from tradeskill xp. The major stumbling block there is that the AA can't affect the end product. A level 9 artisan produces the exact same Sunfish Cassarol as a level 80 provisioner. Sure the 80 provisioner can produce it faster and easier, but its the same end product. The same for every crafted item in the game. Any AA system you come up with can't change that.

Also crafting is easy as it is. Some of you doubt that, but its only because you arn't level 80 yet. As you level, the reaction arts get better but crafting doesn't grow in difficulty. So in effect, crafting gets easier every 10 levels with no matching raise in difficulty like you see with adventuring. Basically, imagine level 30 adventurers still beatining up level 10 bears for xp. No challenge. So introducing AA to make crafting easier really doesn't achieve much.

Raising the number of items produced has some promise, but if that is the only achievable AA line then it isn't worth offering. If there is only one choice for AA, or one good choice, then its no choice at all. It isn't worth the effort of introducing an AA line and other avenues of improvement for crafting should be investiated instead.

Anyways that's a fast recap of why crafting AA doesn't work.

Would love to see a small chance (3-5%) that one of our other 8 tradeskill abilities will skill up.
