Hello.I'll start from the beginning, so try to bear with me. About a week ago I finally downloaded the game, after getting harassed by my friend to do so. Didn't register right away, played trial account.I logged on, changed some setting for better graphic details and started leveling and exploring the game.Got my character to lvl 9 and crafting to 7 or 8 and enjoyed playing, had no problems. The next time I logged on the UI didn't seem to respond to anything I did, had no healt or power on my bars, couldn't talk to npcs, use abilities or spells and when I ran to the "edge of loading area" there were no npcs, monsters etc. just plain enviroment. After about minute the game dumped me to character selection screen and same thing happened whenever I tried to log on with any character.I changed every setting I back to default but that didn't help. Then I started wondering if it's the firewall/anti-virus software, and wanting to change it for some time I decided to pay a fee and get one that I've been wanting. It's not that much money per year and atleast then I'm a paying customer to them. So now I tried the game again and it mysteriously worked! Yay! Could play again and started leveling another char. I deleted my first char earlier, was not a big deal cause it was only lvl 9. So happily playing again I got my 2nd char to lvl 8, another to lvl 9 and his crafting to 9 too. Then it happened again, no response ingame whatever I pressed or did. *sigh* I even registered the game but (payed months fee) but to no avail.And please, don't tell me it's my firewall cause I've allowed EQ2 client thru it. I can pretty much do or play anything else I want, but not this game. So, after reading these forums, trying to figure this out, I ran a tracert and pathping as adviced. To me it seems that there's some sort of problem with Level3.net servers. Source to Here This Node/LinkHop RTT Lost/Sent = Pct Lost/Sent = Pct Address 0 Ubermicro [192.168.0.12] 0/ 100 = 0% | 1 7ms 0/ 100 = 0% 0/ 100 = 0% 10.203.128.1 0/ 100 = 0% | 2 8ms 0/ 100 = 0% 0/ 100 = 0% UNKNOWN.pp.htv.fi [213.243.154.225] 0/ 100 = 0% | 3 10ms 0/ 100 = 0% 0/ 100 = 0% 212.90.64.70 0/ 100 = 0% | 4 11ms 0/ 100 = 0% 0/ 100 = 0% hls-b4-link.telia.net [80.239.193.53] 0/ 100 = 0% | 5 15ms 0/ 100 = 0% 0/ 100 = 0% s-bb2-pos6-0-0.telia.net [213.248.64.105] 0/ 100 = 0% | 6 23ms 0/ 100 = 0% 0/ 100 = 0% kbn-bb2-link.telia.net [80.91.248.49] 0/ 100 = 0% | 7 111ms 0/ 100 = 0% 0/ 100 = 0% nyk-bb2-link.telia.net [80.91.254.91] 0/ 100 = 0% | 8 107ms 0/ 100 = 0% 0/ 100 = 0% nyk-b5-link.telia.net [80.91.253.106] 0/ 100 = 0% | 9 122ms 0/ 100 = 0% 0/ 100 = 0% 4.68.63.213 0/ 100 = 0% | 10 --- 100/ 100 =100% 100/ 100 =100% ge-2-1-0-89.bbr2.NewYork1.Level3.net [4.68.16.130] 0/ 100 = 0% | 11 --- 100/ 100 =100% 100/ 100 =100% as-2-0.mp1.SanDiego1.Level3.net [64.159.1.137] 0/ 100 = 0% | 12 --- 100/ 100 =100% 100/ 100 =100% so-10-0.hsa1.SanDiego1.Level3.net [4.68.113.38] 0/ 100 = 0% | 13 --- 100/ 100 =100% 100/ 100 =100% vl861.sdtermswitch-1.sonyonline.net [63.215.251.130] 0/ 100 = 0% | 14 191ms 0/ 100 = 0% 0/ 100 = 0% vl831.sdkollsw-1.sonyonline.net [64.37.144.82] 0/ 100 = 0% | 15 194ms 0/ 100 = 0% 0/ 100 = 0% sdkeq2-07-01.everquest2.com [199.108.11.33] Trace complete.

The problem definatly lies with the level 3 SanDiego servers. Can s1 please explain to me why the servers keep changing. I have been monitoring it in ping plotter over the last week and every 30 - 45 secs these servers randomly change along the route?

as-2-0-mp2.sandiego1.level3.net

so-8-0.hsa1.sandiego1.level3.net

so-10-0.hsa1.sandiego1.level3.net

as-1-0-mp1.sandiego1.level3.net

Bandwidth in use and error count on next upstream hop can determine of the node switches to a alternate path. If the node is coded correctly it can switch to a completely different route path if the next upstream hop is not responding. The is normal data traffic practices.

After some setting adjusting, lot of frustration and cursing, and one major headache, I finally got it working. Basically I checked my router settings and tested some, found out that it wasn't working as I wanted it to, so I rebooted it back to basic settings and then tweaked some settings. It was working as gateway and I changed it to work as router, tho my ISP doesn't recommend that setting. But now EQ2 is working and I feel bit noobish. ^^

Problem solved, thank you for your time. ^^
