I know this is a Fluff spell, but I was shocked when I logged into Test to find that the spells effects had been changes and instead of becoming a misty image of myself in my own clothes I now become a see through ghost (including my clothing and equipment) and the fact that I stayed in my clothes was one thing I really liked about this spell. I use this spell a lot on live and dont like the new appearance. Was this an intended change or a bug? To be honest would rather see it left as it was previously.

Thanks

oh bleh it turns me into a ghostly dark elf. would have been better if it kept the proper race of the user atleast.

Mist or a Ghost is fine, just leave it so it shows our equipment and dosnt ghost that out as well. I love the Mist image because I can set my appearance slot items the way I want and they show up while I am in mist form, now I will look just like every other necro that runs around in that form.

I am still very curious to know if this was an intentional change or a bug due to other changes being made? I know it doesn't deal much with the working mechanics of the game, but for some of us the visual aspects of the game are just as important and this is one that I like the way it is. Has anyone else seen anything posted about this elsewhere? Thanks for indulging my curiosity here.

I use Misty all the time, wearing a vest and gloves. Result is that I have no arms. I like it that way (Just wish it would also get rid of the leggings so I was entirely a vapourous image with clothes where I select.)

I agree that if it now makes me a ghost, it needs to be set back.

It also, of course, means we need a new fluff spell, Nylph's Ghostly Image.

Nylph's Misty Army and Nylph's Ghostly Army would also be convenient.

And we *really* need our illusions to work while on our mounts. A skeleton on a dire hyena is a good thing.

Are you kidding me? Another of our spells has been messed with? This time one that wasn't getting a name change or anything , that shouldn't have been touched at all?

Sounds like someone in the dev department needs to realize they don't have the "Midas" touch...in fact everything that they seem to be touching lately is actually turning to.....

*takes a deep breath*

Please! I implore you please stop tweaking the things that are not broken and focus on the things that need to be fixed. If I wanted a ghostly image I'd get the LoN one... I, like many, enjoy "Nylphs Misty Image, for the immersion it provides my necromancer in game.

( Yes I would love it if there was a more "Lichly" type fluff spell that allowed me to have a hideous lich-like form while retaining my own "appearance armor" but thats beside the point.)

My point is: someone over there appparently doesn't understand that many of us love the immersion and Lore that this franchise of Everquest has provided over the years. Please stop trying to be so much like that unmentionable other game and be what I and others have signed on to play.

Just because a "Big Mac"tm is popular and has sold millions does not mean that I don't prefer to have "Steak and Lobster" when I am paying for my own dinner! Stop trying to change my steak to a cheeseburger!

(If I wanted to play an inferior game like WoW, I'd be playing it)

Stop ruining EQ2 please and thank you!

The 'Fun Spell' for females was changed a few months back. It has been on live servers at least 3 months. The male version I take has changed to reflect the same as the females now?

As a side I put in feedback few months before that the illusion it's self needs to reflect a female if your character is a female. So, If that was the result of that I don't know but it made me wonder. The spell now makes you a female if your character is female when casted which I like a lot better.

I kinda like the new ghostly look of this spell, and never cared much for the original, though too bad it changes me into a human instead of allowing me to remain as a ghostly iksar. Now that would be awesome.

See, I like the Misty image, its has been, in my opinion, one of the most unique illusion forms in the game. It changes the user while letting them retain the way they look (clothing, weapons, cloaks...) and not just look like another race. To me it is very fitting for a mage class, including Necro, and I have used this form for a very long time. I dont mind a ghost form, but dont replace the misty form with it, and if it is deemed necessary to change the misty for to a ghost form, at least give us the ability to keep our clothing as shown, as it is right now the ghost form shows up as a undefined white blob, unfortunately we dont all have the luxury of running on high graphics settings.

Tigerlord001

A blob? Hmm, not sure why yours shows up like that because mine appears as a blue human ghost wearing exactly what I have in my appearance slots, only everything has a semi-transparent look to it. I don't run on any fancy settings either, so I'm not sure what would cause you to see it differently.

azraelteir
06-02-2009, 04:52 PM

It looks like a ghostly image of yourself, however on lower graphics settings it lacks any real definition other than a white ghost image of yourself (aka: blob in sarcastic terms.. lol).

On higher settings I am sure it will be possible to see definition to your form (cloak, robe, weapons...) but on the lower settings it just doesn't translate well and I am afraid that all Necro's who use this form will just end up looking like every other Necro who uses this form, with no real sense of individuality. I loved the Mist image because I could still define my look by my gear and still use the form.

My goal here was simply to try and find out if this was a bug or an intended change and if it was intended then perhaps try and add some thoughts to make the change better (i.e. show our equipment as normal, the rest of us as a ghost) or get them to change it back (wishful thinking).

it may be a dark elf, I really couldn't tell, it was kinda washed out on my screen. All I could really make out was that I had on a helm, a robe, a cloak and I could see that I had weapons, but they too were ghosted like the rest of my body so they blended all together. I could hear my Raid Leader in my head yelling in vent to "lose the illusion form" because I look like a mob... /sad

So I assume still no feedback on this, and that this borked change will be going in this week, intended or not?

If so, it's kinda sad. This is one of the more unique illusions, even if it doesn't work on mounts or walls. I wish they would just fix *that* part of it, and leave the illusion itself alone. I certainly don't plan on using the new version, and I can't think of any others that fit like this one did...

I can't express how disappointing this is for me. This is the third change in a row that will alter my Necro character to the point where I just don't recognize him anymore. All cosmetic changes. I'm bothered by the idea that seems to be expressed here with these changes, that if it's cosmetic, it doesn't really matter.

First it was changing /mood angry to have the ants-in-pants body motion. I really loved the scowl it used to just put on his face, made him look mean. Now, I can't use it because he looks like he's ready to go toe-to-toe with the next person that looks at him sideways. He's a summoner... He doesn't go toe-to-toe with anyone. He bides his time and sends his creatures in to battle at the opportune moment!

Then they've altered his summoned pets to fit the (some would say needless) spell line name changes. I put a lot of effort into coming up with clever, cool sounding names for each. Each had a story behind it, and was an integral part of my character's background. All gone. Poof. Unraveled. I really, really liked some of those pets, especially the giant winged and horned gargoyle Master I fighter pet.

And then we have this. To say that this illusion is a part of my Necro's character is like saying that the Brooklyn Bridge is made *partly* of steel. Take this away, and you've broken him down to nothing. Give us a new fun spell, sure! Give people a choice. But please, I'm begging you guys... don't take choices away from us. More is great. Less makes me cry.

Making the Misty form be your own race and not a darkelf (with hideous non-misty hair) would have been a nice fix, as would persistence while climbing/riding, but changing it to something completely different????

Oh well, guess I won't be using that one anymore then... I really liked the unique look it provided.

In the case of this spell they are probably fixing it to make necros look like Nylph...since that's who the spell is named after.

Personally I wish they'd bring back the old lich forms where the caster's clothing remained visible and you were a skeleton or orange/green flaming skeleton depending on spell quality.

I mean, I like sleketons and all... but you made to many skeletons when thier is so much more undead things you could of used like even the mummy's seen in Living Tombs and the ole patched up zombie that was a master II instead. I only asked for I & II to be changed to be more fitting for a Knight............. and you go change them and a few others. Oh, please consider changing I & II at least..... possibly III & VI? My top 3 requests are the patched up zombie, Light skin Famale fighter vampire, and since you reminded with the change you made to another spell line for necros the graphic that I've always liked was... the Mummy from 'Living Tombs' & various other zones too.
