Currently the way the math works is that in all cases if you have the ability to dual wield you will do more damage with comparable weapons that way than if you wield a 2-hander. The one single time that using a 2-hander would be better than dual wielding is if you're getting tore up by a really bad damage shield. The only classes thus that can potentially see a DPS benefit from 2-hander are crusaders, priests and mages. The only mages that can do any worthwhile melee damage are str-spec'd enchanters, and the spec disallows 2-handers so they won't use them. This leaves crusaders and priests. Since a crusader can use a shield, the only times you'll see one using a 2-hander are when there's no expectation of taking damage and they don't need to block for someone else, rare indeed. That or if they're just goofing off and using the 2-hander as a toy. Additionally, the crusader would need a 2-hander that exceeds the damage of their one-hander + aa bonus. I've been told that the Heavy Hammer of Hard Knocks from Ward of Elements is one such weapon. Don't quote me on that though as that's secondhand. Which brings us to priests, really the only class that can consistently benefit from wielding a 2-handed weapon. IF you are a priest and IF you are in dps-mode and IF you don't need the effect from your mythical, then you may find use of a good 2-hander. Clerics are often going to be seeing good benefit out of shield ally though, so that limits the usefulness again.

only use the dogwood staff for tanking or if you need to boost your avoidance for using shake off.

Duel Wielding is always better than a 2 hander (when comparing similar quality of course). Just stick with same delay weaps.

I never understood why SOE didn't make the Monk and Bruiser Mythicals a 2hander bo staff.

1. The combat animations look way cooler for the brawlers with a bo staff.

2. Especially for the Monk with all the haste gains they have, with a 2 hander they could do way more DPS, the same could possibly be said for a bruiser in the right set up.

I know that this was discussed earlier before ROK about Myths making brawler myths 2H but oh well. To answer the question Dual wield is better at this time due to the fact that our Myths are 1H wpns. It's just a shame that we are so limited on options for good off-hand weapons for our classes. The best one is the Nightmare wraps after that everything else is just mum.

I'm so glad EQ2 went with weapon appearances as it allows me to still fight with a 2handed staff for animations but in reality i'm using 2 1handed weapons, although its a quarter staff i'm weilding in reality no quarter staffs were 1h so I believe the quarter staff should be a Jo Staff.
