Hey,

I used to play EQ2 and have decided to come back and play but the only problem is that i have a HUGE download time for the patch that never seems to get any smaller. I've been running it on and off for about 2 weeks now and it is still giving me a time of 100 hours.

Would it work if someone burnt all the files on to a cd and sent them rather than having to download all the files?

Thanks

I have also found my self with the same problem, only mine starts at about 36hrs and works its way down to about 24hrs before stopping. I have seen this happen to a few people before us but no-one seems to have an answer, am running Windows Vista-32bit i have had the game on previously but my PC contracted a nasty virus and i had to format the drive, since then...it just doesnt work, also i used the online downloader as i have lost the CDs.

The ETA on the patcher is always wrong, whether you use the default launcher or the Station Launcher. If it seems stalled, stop the download and start it again. It will continue where you left off.

AFAIK, there is no way for someone to send you the files you need because the SoE servers scan your computer to see what files are missing, need to be replaced or updated. There is no way for me to know exactly what you need to update so there is no way I could send files to you or post them somewhere to download without copying my entire game and letting you download it...which would take longer than updating a few files here and there.

You can ignore the ETA on the patcher completely. It's never correct. The last time I had to reinstall, the patcher would go from 240 hours, to 2 hours, back up to 175 and then down to 45. All in all, it took 2 hours to download everything I needed.

All I can suggest is to keep trying. Perhaps someone else here will have some advice on settings on your computer that could be changed to speed things along...?

Good luck!

correct me if i am wrong but it is the pak files that the patcher is downloading.

If someone uploaded there own pak files as a .rar file or several or even as a torrent, then people could extract them to there pak directory and the patcher would scan the files and be done with it?

I'm sick of this patch it has been going for 5 days now and i have stopped and started it multiple times and it is still taking forever.

Greetings,

It sounds like you have a firewall, router, or antivirus blocking the download of the game. Let's check for router issues first.

TI would advise bypassing your router and plugging your computer directly into the modem as a first step. If you try that and it corrects your issue then you'll need to configure your router if you wish to continue using it.The following site has great information about router configuration:http://www.portforward.com/english/...routerindex.htmSimply select the router you are using, then select the 'skip this advertisement' button in the upper right, and finally select Everquest 2 on the following page. You will then be presented with a walkthrough on how to forward the correct ports. Please respond if you need any further assistance.

Ok, I added EQ2 to the firewall exception list...that didnt work.

I turned the firewall off...that didnt work

I followed the instructions and forwarded the required ports...that didnt work

so, whats the next sollution?

Yay, I have it working nowm the solution is quite simple, download the Station Launcher from SOEs main sight and run the updates through that, i hat it going in a mere 5min, definate improvement from 350hrs . so just try that, worked for me.
