<p>Hello there. I've been having some very large issues here recently with downloading the patch. Here's my list:</p><p>(1) I'm brand new to EverQuest 2 and really excited about playing it, however.....</p><p>(2) I'm stuck with Satellite internet and a download cap of 250mb per 24 hour period or I get locked out (believe me, when DSL hits these backwoods I live in, I'll be ditching the satelite internet)</p><p>(3) The only good news is that in between 2am and 5am central time, I can download as much as I want.</p><p>(4) I understand the patch for EQ2:SO (the full compilation pack) is about 2 or 3 gigs big (which would exceed my download amount in a 24 hour period if I downloaded on normal time).</p><p>So, here's the issue:</p><p>(5) I use Windows Vista, and I've got the game installed correctly and everythings working (I just need the patch).</p><p>(6) I cant seem to get any speed better than 577KB/s download speed when I'm downloading the patch (in between 2am and 5am central time). Which means that the download will take - roughly - 6.5 hours.</p><p>(7) After seeing that the first time. I cancelled the download and went straight to configuring my router (I thought it was a port forwarding issue, so I configured my router to forward the ports appropriately using SoE's port forwarding guide).</p><div>(<img src="/eq2/images/smilies/b2eb59423fbf5fa39342041237025880.gif" border="0" /> Restarted the download. Still huge amounts of time.</div><div></div><p>(9) Called the ISP and forced them to run every single test that they could, the equipment is working fine. So, we performed a speed test while the download WAS downloading and while the download WAS NOT downloading. The speed was disappointing. I get 1mb/s when the download IS NOT downloading, but I only get 577KB/s when the download IS downloading.</p><div></div><div>....So, I still don't have the patch, and I'm still not playing EQ2. So, here are my questions I hope someone can answer.</div><div></div><div>Question 1: Does anyone have any idea why my download speed is so horrible while downloading the patch? I thought SoE had huge servers and T3 lines to prevent any sort of slow speed from their end while downloading or playing the game....</div><div></div><div>Question 2: Is there an alternate link where we could download an installation file that is zipped or something so that we can unzip it and install the patch without the patcher running?</div><div></div><div>If any of the SoE Tech Guys are out there and can help, that'd be great. I'd love to start playing EQ2 today, I really want to play it, but I need the patch. PLEASE HELP!!!</div><div></div><div></div><div>[Edited at 4am CST]</div><div></div><div>One more question. If I download some of the patch (like 600mb), will the patcher remember the last place it left off like the WoW patcher, or do I have to start all over again?</div>

<p>AFAIK, there is no alternate link because the server has to scan YOUR installation and see what files need updating or replacing as well as check for missing files you might need. Downloading it via the default or Station launcher is the only way you can get it.</p><p>Yes, if you cancel the download of the patch and restart it later on, it will resume where it left off.</p><p>Unfortunately, it looks like you will just have to download what you can, when you can and eventually you will be able to log in. I know it sucks but there really is no alternative. You can cancel all the optional downloads if you haven't all ready and that will save you some time (additional voices, ecology sounds, etc).</p><p>The game has patches ranging in size that are released a couple of times per month as well. So you will still have to download small patches occasionally and larger ones when a GU is released.</p><p>And FYI, the ETA on the patcher (default and station launcher) is notoriously WRONG so don't go by what it is saying at all. You can pretty much ignore it because it will jump all over the place and never be accurate.</p>

<p>Ok. (sighs). Well, I've decided to come and gently leech off of Panera Bread Companies internet for a while as I do my homework (which isn't due until Tuesday, but why not actually be productive while I'm waiting to be lazy right?! ^_^). Anyway, thanks for the info, it is helpful. Though, I am curious, does anyone know the average size of the smaller patchs that realease throughout the month and generally what time of the month they release or is it just as random as the Patcher EDT (estimated download time) monitor?</p>
