So I recently bought the EQII starter kit from best buy yesterday. I spent all evening trying to patch it, ran into issues in the morning, fixed the issues, and have spent all day trying to patch. No progress has been made whatsoever. I've tried multiple different vista fixes that have been previously recommended to me such as:

I've disabled windows firewall, disabled UAC, ran this under administrator and even in compatibility mode for windows XP.

Nothing seems to be working. I understand that this is a rather old game, and I was expecting a very long patch time, somewhere along the lines of eight to ten hours. I'm getting to the point though where I'm considering just taking the game back and stop bothering because it's been two freaking days since I've started this process and have made no progress. Is there anything else that someone can recommend to me before I decide to give up?

Doubt the BB will take the game back since it is subscription based you you already created the account.

Take a look at the new beta launchpad, it might work a little better for you

Yeah, sounds like connection issues. I recently reinstalled from scratch, onto both my PC's via the beta launchpad. My main gaming rig is running XP-64, the backup PC is running Vista 32. Both installs took around 5 hours each. Made for some hellish lag trying to play L4D versus, though.

Summed up, kill the app. Reboot the PC. Start over; it'll pick up where it left off. Also, posting some system info, and download speeds, that might help.

Besides everything that has already been suggested, you might want to try bypassing your router for the download as well. Sometimes a router will block certain ports that the game uses for download and that will increase the download time significantly. Simply plug your computer directly into the modem instead of using the router and that should avoid the problem.

There's also a way to set up the router to allow the connection, but I wouldn't take those steps until we know the router is actually the problem.
