Random total PC lock-up on new PC, PART2

<p>I first posted about this here <a href="http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/posts/list.m?start=0&topic_id=450742�">http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...450742�</a></p><p>Brief history-  My PC has been randomly locking up while playing EQ2 and only EQ2,  all the drivers are up to date everything is as it should be as far as I can see.  But i've found out something new and I can't explain it so I'm hoping I may be on the right track.</p><p>My random PC lock-ups ONLY occur while I'm in fullscreen mode.  I played all weekend in windowed mode and didnt lock up once.  I'm hoping that I have some in-game settings set wrong or something along those lines that would explain this, because I really do not like playing in anything but fullscreen.  Fullscreen resolution is set at 1280x720 60htz which is exactly what my desktop is set to.  I have no clue as why it only locks up in fullscreeen and never in windowed mode.</p><p>If any of you can explain this or if you have a theory as to why this is, PLEASE post it.</p>

<p>First of all, nice comp. Secondly, up to date drivers doesn't always mean that you have the "right" drivers. Some games like different drivers better than others.Because you are using Nvidia cards, I assume you are running 185.xx? If you are, you may be running into problems because of that. My PC setup doesn't like that driver. If you use the 182.xx from the driver support site, you should hopefully notice a difference. I used to have to change drivers when I switched between EQ classic and EQ2 on an old comp.</p>

<p>Well,  I i've tried the 185, 182 and even an older driver and they all have the same effect- random but yet inevitable total PC lock-up while in fullscreen mode and ZERO lock-ups in windowed mode.  But I really appreciate the post/suggestion.  Being that the lock-ups ONLY occur while in fullscreen mode does it really seem like its a driver issue?  I'm not PC savy enough to know weather it is or not but i'm inclined to think it's not if it runs perfect in windowed mode.  I mean its using the same driver in windowed mode as its using in fullscreen right?</p><p>I asked in global chat the other night if anyone had any suggestions as to why a PC would only lock-up while playing in fullscreen mode and NEVER in windowed.  Someone replied that it was having multi-core support enabled that was causing it, so I turned that off and gave it a go.  Same results- random but yet inevitable total PC lock-up while in fullscreen mode and ZERO lock-ups in windowed mode.</p><p>Now I may have the wrong idea about what this board is for, but I must say that I'm extremely disapointed in the total lack of any suggestions from the SoE admins that run this board.  I mean, they are supose to offer some type of help here right? </p><p>Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated,  i'm close to just calling it quits with this game and moving on to one that doesnt totally lock-up my PC (which is every other game i've loaded onto this PC) as i'm sure all the hard shut downs I have to do while playing EQ2 cannot be good for my PC.</p><p>Thanks in advance!</p>

<p>  Get used to the total lack of support... it's a SOE game. The "out of memory" errors that have plagued tons of EQ2 players for years recieved a request for information in 2007 in this thread here <a href="http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/posts/list.m?topic_id=364955" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=364955</a> but after almost 100 pages of replies has netted absolutely nothing in 2 years. Not one piece of help from a single dev. They have basically ignored the thread since its posting. They don't really care man.</p><p>Best advice is to post your issue on ALL of the support threads and see if you can find people that found a fix themselves.</p>
