GU52 is due on the Test server RSN (Real Soon Now), and I was lucky enough to get a few looks at some of the crafting goodness that is in store for us. Have you been judging books by their covers and feeling a bit underwhelmed by the amount of greenish grey in your in-game library? How does 16 different book cover styles sound for the new player-created books? Vexxed by how hex dolls have not kept up with the changing gear progression in the game? Yep, we just might see a happier hex ... as well as happier crafted ranged goodies for those who shoot and throw. What, you are still feeling blue about player-made furniture and want more?! Yes, we might just even manage to see that one, too.

Take an exclusive look at the images that make me say these things in my GU52 Sneak Peek. (Once this hits the Test server and I get my hot little halfling hands all over it, I will give a more in-depth preview, but until then I am going to coo happily over these images that they shared with me!)

Great preview ... and there's lots more for crafters that isn't even shown there, too!

(For reference, every 2nd tier of books stands on end - so T2, 4, 6, and 8 stand on end, the others lie flat. The vertical ones are show on the shelf in the "blue furniture" screenshot.)

That blue furniture is lovely, the first good crafted items I've seen in a long time. Now, would it be possible to get it in a shade that doesn't clash with the Qeynos guild house?

My ranger is drooling over those bows.. and a drooling Ratonga is not a pretty site. Often mistaken for rabies when in fact there is either a giant wedge of cheese near by or incredible new bow enhancements. That could be added to say... a bed that does not have some!! Oh my creative juices are going now *nodnod*

We wanted the player-written books to have completely unique graphics, and Haohmaru on the art team has done a fantastic job in providing these! As we continue into the future, no doubt there will be more graphics added, and the user books thread already has a lot of great suggestions that we've noted down for consideration.

First things first though, we will see how folks react to this current set of notebooks, as I'm sure we all know that once an item is live in game people find new ways they want to use it which may not be how we expected it (as the Norrathian Homeshow demonstrates almost daily...) Rest assured that we'll be watching to see how folks use the books - and want to use them.

Not bad at all , I will need to look into getting the new dolls for my guard for sure. Curious how well the books will handle large amounts of text, have a few stories on the back burner I wouldn't mind posting in places. Question though will we be able to put the books on the broker, with authors name ofcourse, once we write something in there. Could open an entire new market.

The books and furniture are gorgeous.

I'm a little concerned about the homogenization of the throwing weapons -- they all have the same stats, now, based on the screenshots. And those stats will in some cases be lower -- it looks like I'm going to be getting lower STR and STA in exchange for higher AGI on my bandolier, for instance. (When I upgrade at level 52, that is.) Why not keep the different stats so that there is some variety from which to choose?

The stat increases on the hex dolls are humongous. More mudflation? Really? I agree the has been no demand for hex dolls lately, but has SOE given any thought to the consequences of this runaway mudflation?

Powers &8^]

All of this news on crafting is another chapter in Everquest 2's lasting ability. Now the Player written books, that is really a whole new path that EQ2 is charging into. It really is an amazing concept. For me, I am not a writer... but I love to read and I can see some people world-wide that have amazing talent here. Can you imagine what EQ2 will be like over a years time with people-written books?

I for one am very happy about this effort to bring new ideas and thoughts into the game.

Thanks. I hate to be a user than much of a giver but myself and I think others are much appriecative of your efforts.

Enjoy

*chuckles and shakes her head*

Just when I think I almost have some of my in-game houses all set up... here comes something new and I get to upgrade!

I've been wanting more blue (check out Enna's house at 5 Karana in SQ, if you're on AB server), so now I get to rotate out some of the not-so-blue stuff I'd been improvising with. *grins and rubs her hands together in anticipation*

Many thanks Domino, and Niami - for sharing your sneak preview.

*goes off to pursue a tailoring epic on Live, then more Carpentry levels on Test alternating with more Sage levels on both servers*

I turn their time-crazed weight in my hands and hear echoes through time from the ancestral spirits, teaching me, showing me paths into the future. I am touched by the spirits, compelled to heal through their power, compelled to listen to their stories. As I turn the bones quietly, tracing their lines, I hear the voices of ancient Halas calling me and mine home."

But still, EQ1 Halasians had kilts, we should too!

EDIT: If I forgot to mention, Mistress Domino is a goddess and I'm all excited about the new stuff!
