Hey what's up, I really want to try out EQ2 but I can't even get through the character creation process without it disconnecting me EVERY SINGLE TIME. This is NOT a problem with my computer or connection, as I play LOTS of online games with NO PROBLEMS at all. Does anyone know what the problem is or any possible solutions? As I said I was really looking forward to playing this game

Do you have a firewall?

Yes but it's set to allow full access to EQ2. I can log in fine at first but then get disconnected after already connecting, I think if it was a firewall problem I wouldn't be able to connect at all right?

Kiache, I would recommend checking in the Connection Support Forum.

To help figure out what's happening, you should probably runn a tracert and pathping and show us the results.

First, you need a DOS window. Open up the Start menu, choose the Run command, type command (Vista) or cmd (Win2K) and press Enter.

Next, type the following. Hit enter after each command and wait for the prompt before typing the next:

ipconfig /all > c:eq2info.txt tracert unrest.everquest2.com >> c:eq2info.txtpathping unrest.everquest2.com >> c:eq2info.txt

This will create a text file in your C: drive, which you can open using Notepad and then paste the results over here. In place of "unrest" you can use the name of your EQ2 server.

This really sounds like a router issue. If it was an antivirus or firewall then it probably wouldn't let him connect at all. A blocked port on the router would probably let him connect, but the latency would quickly build until he was dropped from game.

Are you using a router with your current network setup? Have you tried bypassing that router so that your computer is connected directly to the modem? I wouldn't suggest that as a permanent setup, but it will let us know whether the router is part of the problem. If that corrects the issue then we can assist you in setting up that router to work with the game.
