Ok, after I installed the game I haven't been using the launcher to launch the game (saves time if there are no updates), been running fine except having to re-enter password when I switch or get booted (happens during zoning at times).

Decided to run the launcher in-case there were any updates and for some strange reason I cant wrap my mind around it changed all my saved settings. What gives? I just wanted it to start the game for me.

Is there a way I can use the launcher and not have it reconfigure the game for me?

Is there a file I can move? I am rather accomplished at copy/paste if I know which to move where.

Which settings in particular should it change? Key bindings or graphics, possibly something else?

Generally the launcher will download/overwrite new files or ones that are modifed in a way that doesn't match up with our patch system. If you haven't used it in some time, it's likely EQ2's confuration files are using a newer format that were placed on.

Normally, though, it should reset of your settings to defaults. Can you try adjusting one of the game settings the launcher has reset and seeing if happens again?

Yes it does save any changes I use with the launcher.

I did figure out what is happening but don't know if there is a way to fix it.

When the game starts while using the launcher it kicks the monitor into High def mode (1080p to be exact) which sharpens the graphic settings so high the text is hardly legible.

When starting the game without the launcher it starts in normal mode and I can adjust the resolution (usually 1366x768 60hz) which is quite nice for the size screen I am using.

If it were possible to reduce the HD mode to 720p it would be perfect but I don't know whats triggering HD to begin with while using the launcher vs not using it.

Greetings,

The following files contain the control/UI settings for the game. You might want to store a copy of these files in a seperate directory if you're worried about losing them again in a similar incident.

cache foldereq2_recent.inieq2_default.iniEverQuest2.exee q2.iniAs well as the character specific files, these will appear as such:Servername_CharacterName_EQ2_uisettings.iniSt ationname_characters.ini
