I'm curious as to what the most & least popular/used races are with monk/brawler?

It depends on the role of your monk/bruiser.

If it is tank, large races, such as barbarians, trolls, ogres, etc., are good choices.

If it is dpser, dark elf, rat, etc. are good choices.

Iksar probably has the best tanking racial traditions for Monk. +Health, +Defense, +Deflection, +Parry, and +Melee Crit all in one package.

As far as the most popular goes, probably human and kerra. Arasai, Dark Elf, and Halfling are definitely one of the least popular.

My eq1 monk was a human and so is my eq2 monk..no paticular reason other than seeing a hulking barbarian jumping around just looked silly.

Fae monk is fun. Fae get some pretty spiffy movement bonuses which can help if you are trying to get somewhere using FD to just pass mobs.

I personally like Barbarian Monk for leveling up. The race/class choice stacks for a lot of fun.

You get +5% speed racially to stack with the 5% speed bonus you get from the first point of Brawler AA's.

Spending points in Monk Sprint AA (on the way to the Mend AA) stacks with the Barbarian Sprint Racial, the result being a Sprint that's almost free to use and powers you up to 80% movement speed all by itself.

The Barbarian Berserk Racial works great with Brawler INT endline AA. Both trigger when your HP is 30% or less, and stack for a nice large +mitigation, +crit chance bonus. It's a great tool to use to increase the speed you solo at up until level 75-80 at least, and even longer if you're careful.

You can get a bonus to Alchemy, which you use to make yourself Combat Arts and potions to augment or add abilities you don't get, like SoW.

Wants Smoke's Abilities to Solo Venni, But I'll settle for that Iksar Shackle Grandmaster's ability to do a combat shadowclone.
