I've come back to EQ2 after a couple years off, so Darklight Wood is a new zone for me. Long story short, even though it's a newbie zone I personally think it's one of the best zones in the game. The atmosphere is spot-on and very reminiscent of EQ1 in many respects.

I'd even go so far as to say that Darklight Wood is what Nektulos Forest should have been. Nektulos is plagued with performance issues and is fraught with invisible boundaries -- not to mention a frustrating layout. On the other hand, DLW is performant and features a little bit of everything. The only reason I'm comparing the two is their proximity to Neriak and Commonlands; but something tells me if the Devs could do it all over again, DLW would've been the future version of EQ1's Nektulos Forest. Just a guess on my part.

Anyway, major kudos to the person/people who designed Darklight Wood.

I have to agree with you. Darklight is my favorite zone too. I could nitpick about little details about it, but overall I think the atmosphere is just great there--esp for new evil toons.

I agree. I take toons there from other starter areas to do the quests and to work on L & L quests. I'ts a well designed zone.

I do agree with you here. I wish it was available when I started playing on the day of release. It is a great looking zone and the quest progression is well organized for new players.

Yep. It's my prefered starting area too. I start in DLW, then head to TD around level 15 for the Mok Rent quests, then back to finish up DLW, even though it's green at that point. TD is tedious until the Mok Rent portion, which is awesome. DLW is pretty awesome all the way through.

I agree that DLW is a great zone.

I usually start in Freeport (my PC and Neriak don't get along) and after getting tolevel 10, I level-lock all my toons and head to DLW.With the amount of 10+ quests and named mobs it's a great place to get 6 or 7 AApoints quickly.

I normally run my toons up in TD level lock and head to DLW for some extra AA, I love the zone
