The solution I find posted on how to run Station Launcher and EQ2 create problems in the real world for a lot of hardware setups. Vistax64 and Windows 7 x64 seem to mask non-standard key assignments like F11 or F12 and many others.

'Run as Administrator' does not allow mapping keys. I use Logitech's G13 and Microsoft's X8 mouse. Neither buttons or keys are mapable if EQ2 is started by Station Launcher when 'Run as Adminstrator'.

Using 'Run as Administrator' to start EQ2 also does not allow the keys or buttons to be mapped.

Now Everquest2.exe seems to work fine when not ''Run as Administrator'. However Station Launcher will not run at all if not set to 'Run as Administrator' you get an error that states it must be run as administrator.

Again everquest2.exe runs fine without 'Run as Administrator' as far as I can tell from many hours of play.

The work around I am using is to:

Set Stationlauncher.exe with 'Run as Administrator' checked on the programs, properties, compatibility tab to get any updates or notes.

I then close Station launcher and;

run everquest2.exe without having set it to 'Run as Administrator'.

It would sure simplify operation and perhaps save a lot of frustration for people who would like to play or start playing EQ2 using all the mouse buttons. An x64 version of StationLauncher.exe would seem to be the fix for this problem.

In any case for those of you experiencing errors on mapping keys and not being able to get them to work. Try the work around above. It is awkward but it works for me.

flag setpoint and the g13 launcher to run with elevated privligees, this is needed for almost any application that trys to communicate with a service style application. Been doing this with the setpoint and g15 keyboard for close to 2 years with vanguard, eq1, eq2, mo, potbs, wow, spore, it works. this is on Vista x32/x64 and Windows 7 x32/X64

I like my extremely old 'classic' keyboard at my house, so I haven't experienced this issue for myself.

(seriously, my keyboard is so old it needs an adapter to fit the standard ps/2 port)

G15 for the win, especially if you run ventrillo and ACT in the background. Both show up on the LCD panel

You guys make it sound like my old keyboard is bad. That thing has character.

Besides, I use a Belkin n-52 speedpad for macros/gaming. I just like the keyboard for typing.

I check ebay every so often to see if any are for sale and pick them up.
