have been tryin to get into my swg and eq2 accts and both wont let me connect to the login. I looked to see if there was a posted down time. or server issue. and soe has not posted anything.

so maybe you ask. have you checked your firewall? are you in a router?

ive been playing this game for over a year, swg for way longer, but on this computer for a few months now. havnt had this issue either time, havn't changed firewall settings or anything. no hardware that might be associated with the internet connection.

i did however get a new GPU and CPU as my old gpu was black screening me while playing the 2 games, and my CPU crapped out on me. installed the stuff yesterday, got it working the best i could today, now that im finally home and relaxed from work i said, hmm i wonder how my games are gonna look on my pretty new 4850. low and behold, login issues in SWG. oh well, ill let that touchy at best connection in SWG crap it self out and check on it tomorrow, i wanna play eq2 anyway, but no! log-in 1-9 followed by an amazing "give up and kill yourself" farewell from the game and im back trying to figure out what the heck is wrong with my computer.

anyone have same issue? anyone know what i can do to resolve this rediculous issue. if it isnt me, im tired of paying for multi games from soe that dont log-in. which reminds me, im off to see if pirates is working.

::::UPDATE:::: pirate of the burning sea, also unable to connect to server login. please restart and try again. every time.

If no game can connect you have a firewall configuration issue. The games use non-standard ports and you have to configure what ever firewall you are using to allow them to connect. In Windows firewall, you need to add the applications to the exceptions list - in the case of eq2 - everquest2.exe, eq2.exe, launchpad.exe, launchpad2.exe are some of the applications

again. if your firewall is turned off and you can literally connect to EVERYTHING but soe login servers (i can loginto the update server, as well as chat with people who are in the game through the station launcher) what is my next step? im sick and tired of paying for stuff that doesnt work the way it should.

its hard for me to say this is on my end, if i can literally do EVERYTHING else on the internet EXECPT log into SOE's servers. any of them. no pirates no swg no eq, does it make sense that i pay for the station access pass and can't play any of the games? no. am i going to keep paying even tho i cant play? maybe. would i be alot more thankful if a TSR actually responded (well, anyone besides wing really, in 2 days? common) hell yes. the fact that i havnt had any contact from any CSR or TSR is making me upset a little. you would think a company with a falling player base would do ANYTHING to help keep the players they do have playing the game. ive had more problems with SOE games and have had next to NO helpful resolutions. it was up to me to figure everything out on my own pretty much.

The games all utilize non-standard ports that are NOT open by default. Specificly TCP port 7000 for the patcher, since all the games utilize the same stock patcher, this port is universal between them all. It does not matter in the least that you can browse the web - web browsing utilizes port 80 for unsecure transmissions and port 443 for SSL protected transmisisons - these games do NOT utilize these ports. 80 and 443 are open by default on most firewalls

It would help if you can supply additional information on your internet connection - for example are you on a campus network, a milnet?

You will not get any repsonse from a CS on the weekend, this is no support. Momday to Friday 10 AM to 7 PM pacific. You can utilize the Live Chat support to contact them directly to discuss the issue that is occurring on your connection. To utuilize live chat, select Search the Knowledge Base, then the Live Chat option. Be sure to adjust their time open to match your time zone.

One thing to realize, configuring a firewall, either hardware or software is up to the end user, all the companies out there will only supply the needed configuration information required so the end user can configure their network to work, this is common business practice, routers and firewalls are considered CPE (customer presence equipment) and up to the end user to figure out. If you search the knowledge base for the information, it is there, the ports that are needed, the ip subnets, and even some general information on how to configure your equipment

Bottom line - it is a configuration issue. Supply detailed information about your configuration for internet connectivity and help might be able to be supplied. If you are on a shared network, like a campus infrastructure, military base or even apartment complex infrastructure you are going to have to get the system administrator of those setups involved.

Greetings,

Wingrider has the right idea but I'd also like to see your tracert/pathping results. While uncommon, it is possible that one of the nodes is down between your network and ours. If it was something like that then it should have corrected itself by this point, but it's worth checking.

Besides that, what graphics card were you using previously and what motherboard are you using right now? I know that some Nvidia motherboards have a built in firewall that most people don't notice. If you were using an Nvidia card before then it's possible that the firewall drivers started acting up when you removed the Nvidia graphics drivers.
