Really bad DPS, even when solo?

<p>So, my necro is level 32, with 29 AAs, and the DPS just feels really slow, like, battle-cleric with only half the AAs you require slow. Its worse in groups, because mobs don't live long enough for DoTs to tick in the first place.</p><p>My coercer felt the same way until i got the reactional spells, then it sky-rocketed. Do Necros ever get some kind of saving grace spell, or is the killing always really slow? Is my only option to A3 every spell i have?</p>

<p>Its not gonna change we have no burst damage. Reroll while you can. I'd make a swash or a warlock</p>

<p>It'll be really slow pretty much all the time , your best route for DPS is to make sure you have a fair few proc items that proc off damage and tbh use your dots as nukes instead of waiting for them to run their course as the initial tick of our bigger dots is higher than the rest of the ticks.</p><p>Later on when you get some spell cast and re-use reduction gear together with some largish proc gear it gets a little better.</p><p>Necros are heavily depentant on a combination of gear and AD3 or Master spells and buffs from other players to shine (weakly) unfortunately.</p>

Is my only option to A3 every spell i have?</p></blockquote><p>  once you get lich(lvl 50) your dps will improve but necros as a class, in the currect game are slow dmg dealers. </p><p>   if you are looking for burst dps mage try conj or sorc, devs might decide to change necros poor burst dmg but as of now it's just not there.</p>

Raise your int to its cap since INT adds to spell damage. For example check out the quick dot with and without INT gear and look at the difference. And in groups pass out hearts like Valentines Day candy. Players do appreciate them. Necro's DPS is a slow rolling boil its not great but after helping cure arcane and in fight rezzing healers they do have utility.

That being said out of all our 'damage' spells there's probably 5 worth casting.. update them first.</p><p>Live on potions and try and form friendships on server/in guild that won't care what class you are will take you regardless. </p><p>It's a great/fun/rewarding solo class to play. Cross your fingers we get some lovin' for groupage. </p><p>Learn everying you can about the class to maximise our short comings. </p><p>As quoted poster wrote we do have some group 'utility' (utility used lightly here) add to that our heal which is quite good in a pinch at higher levels. (we are also useful for clicky duty)</p><p>In summary: if you enjoy your necro keep playing it.. if you are too disapointed in it .. re-roll, we are not uber dps but we can tweak it.. tweak it baby tweak it <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></p>

<p>Bit of a late post but all this negativity made me so sad I just have to say something. Necros can do good DPS. Make sure that you have your Lifeburn line all maxed out in your class tree so that your dots tick faster and so do quicker damage. Makes spam casting them a lot more effective. Also, try to learn an efficient rotation. Vampire Bats - Bloodcoil - Soulrot - Pandemic - Soulrot - Drain Life - Soulrot - Pandemic - Soulrot - Drain Life - Soulrot  etc, etc. works very well for me. Don't remember the lower level names of these spells but I'm sure you can figure it out. =)</p><p>Hope you enjoy your Necro, try not to give in to all the negativity on the forums.</p>
